Summary of Role: Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with the development team in the US. Design and develop database code to provide the functionality required by the API and UI development team.
• Maintain database data by executing data modification / addition requests from developers.
• Create test plans and test cases for manually and automatically testing database functionality and data validity.
• Write SQL queries to provide ad-hoc report requests.
• Work with the DBA to be able to resolve customer issues
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of developers
• Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Exercise development process best-practices with the team.
Minimum Requirements: • Requires a four-year degree in Computer Science, IS/IT or an equivalent of 5+ years of experience managing MS SQL Server databases
• With at least 3-5+ years as the senior/lead MS SQL DBA on all aspects of MS SQL2005/2008 R2 with major responsibilities in an enterprise database environment.
• Hands-on experience implementing SQL Server 2005/2008 R2 in a Windows clustered environment.
• Hands-on experience with disaster recovery techniques and database failure contingency planning including Windows 2003/2008 R2 multi-node clustering and mirroring.
• Willingness to work on-call DBA rotations in a 7x24 environment, during which s/he will be expected to handle a mix of database management and engineering responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with running virtualized SQL environment in both clustered and non-clustered mode.
• Experience developing technical documentation, presentations, supporting and implementing technology projects as the primary DBA in support of business initiatives.
• Expert knowledge of client connectivity TDS/TCP/IP packages including ODBC, OLEDB, and JDBC, knowledge of database performance and tuning optimization tools and techniques.
• Experience working with technical systems support professionals, e.g. project managers, business system and application analyst, network administrators, database administrators, and application developers.
• Experience in providing application and data management support in a variety of business environments.
• Experience utilizing and supporting tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, SQL and Transactional SQL, TOAD, Source Code Management software, Defect Tracking software, and other developer/database resource kits.
• Skill at technical problem solving, software change management and assist other DBAs in troubleshooting or problem solving.
• Understanding and appreciation for high quality code and associated best practices
• Must be an excellent team-player with strong time-management and creative problem solving skills
• Ability to work in a deadline oriented, and fast paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Microsoft Certifications and Training is desired
