Summary of Role: SunPower is seeking a Maintenance Manager to manage all operations and maintenance (O&M) functions at Antelope Valley Solar Park (AVSP) which encompasses a two plant solar project of 309MW and 270MW. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for (1) of these plants (AVSP 1 or AVSP 2) to execute scheduling, performance monitoring, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, vegetation management, module cleaning, reporting requirements and snow removal, etc. The Maintenance Manager will select contractors/vendors, initiate contracts and supervise contractors/vendors or SunPower PV technicians in the performance of his duties. The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager. The site is located in the vicinity of Lancaster (CA).

Some travel may be required for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementation of an OSHA complaint safety program at the plant.
  • Create and manage an annual budget.
  • Using the SunPower work management system, ensure work is planned and scheduled to meet warranty and service contract commitments/requirements.
  • Develop, implement and report metrics for measuring plant performance, work progress and work backlog.
  • Develop and follow written procedures for plant operations and maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain spare parts inventories, tools and equipment needed to meet requirements of the O&M service agreement.
  • As specified in an executed O&M service agreement between SunPower Corporation and a Customer, perform: scheduling, performance monitoring, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, vegetation management, module cleaning, snow removal, etc.
  • Select contractors/vendors, initiate contracts and supervise contractors/vendors or SunPower PV technicians as needed to fulfill O&M service agreement obligations.
  • Conduct or supervise customer training.
  • Responsible for performance of security contractors if required by the O&M service agreement.
  • Conduct plant tours.
  • Provide information and training to customers.
  • Create written reports/memos/emails to communicate findings internally and externally
  • Communicate with customers about their system operation and performance
  • Communicate with vendors about performance of their products
  • Communicate with Quality/Product Development/Purchasing departments about field and remote data findings
  • Communicate with technicians.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

At least 50% of the Maintenance Manager's work will be performed in a work environment; however, the environment for field inspections exposes the Supervisor to the risk of electric shock, heights, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. Additionally while working outdoors, the employee is exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, and ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The noise levels may require hearing protection.

Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands to dexterously maneuver small parts in confined spaces, such as wires, screws, and various components within electrical equipment. Regularly required to kneel, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, use scissor lifts and cherry picker.
Minimum Requirements:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of formal technical training with at least one year of electronics or medium/high voltage systems training.
  • 2+ years experience maintaining and troubleshooting electronic and electrical power distribution systems similar or more complex than SunPower systems.
  • 1+ years contract and budget management experience preferred.
  • Experience using computer work management and scheduling tools.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical, I&C, and mechanical drawings and technical manuals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Be able to inspect and work maintenance activities in outdoor construction type areas without handicap access.
  • Lift 50 pounds unassisted.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Strong technical and supervisory skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully procure, monitor, and assess subcontracted functions such as electrical contractors.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors.
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision with a customer service focus.
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations.
  • Organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
MATHEMATICAL and ANALYTICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to analyze operating data and identify anomalies.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, lengths, and electrical values.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.

REASONING ABILITY & DECISION MAKING SKILLS

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, architectural or electrical drawing, or schedule form.
