Summary of Role: SunPower is seeking a Si Engineering Director to be responsible for the Si technologies (poly, ingot, and wafer) development and deployment in order to continuously drive down silicon cost and improve silicon performance for company's Si supply. This Si Engineering Director reports to the VP of Si Materials Group and the responsibilities will include Si technology roadmap update, Si Engineering Team management, joint development program with TOTAL R&D team, and the support to the Si Supply Chain Management team, align and co-work with Cell/Module R&D team as well as the OPS team in Philippines/Malaysia in Silicon technology development and deployment, new Silicon supplier qualifications, Silicon solution for new cell and module technologies; quality and yield improvement ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned): - Define and update Si technology roadmap in poly, ingot, and wafer areas in line with Company technology roadmap and cost reduction roadmap - Lead the Si Engineering team in SPSV and SPML to develop innovative Si technology / processes from innovation, development, deployment and implement in production, proliferation, and continuous improvement ; - Collaborate with Cell/Module/Reliability R&D teams in technology intersection and integration; - Closely engage with Si Supply Chain Management team to deliver the Si cost roadmap; - Understand SPWR Si supply partners' technology and performance, guide them towards SPWR Si technology and cost roadmap, and support their cost reduction efforts; - Qualify new strategic Si supplies, and ensure a smooth production ramp up ; - Collaborate with TOTAL Si R&D team to define and execute joint development programs; Partner with key equipment and material suppliers on technology development, and drive them towards SPWR Si technology and cost roadmap. Minimum Requirements: • MS/Ph.D. in Photovoltaic, Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related fields; • Sufficient working experiences in PV field with fundamental knowledge in Si/cell/module technology and processes, clear understanding the technology trend and development roadmap; • Successful track record in technology development from innovation to full proliferation in production. • Familiar manufacture production key requirement and disciplines • Demonstrated leadership in managing R&D team and significant projects in the PV field, with the cross functional collaborations with other departments (manufacturing, sales & marketing, etc.); • Proven project management capability (including planning and managing budget) and problem solving skills, and excellent communication skills; Willing to travel at ~30% to manage multi-regional team. Preferred Requirements: • Demonstrated achievements and R&D team management experiences in the Si process technology (poly, ingot, and wafering). • Demonstrated technology leadership with established publications/IP filings. • Excellent leadership in lead an engineering organization: giving vision and direction, great communication to employees, management, peers and suppliers, strengthening, inspiring, motivating, guiding and empowering employees within and outside Si Engineering team. • Well recognized and connected in PV, especially Silicon industry • Good business sense and able to understand and support business strategy and execution |
