Summary of Role: The primary role for this position is to work and develop the Off Grid Design & Engineering Team's Proposal and Project electrical engineering needs coming from our Sales and/or Dealers throughout Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific Regions as requested. The main target of the Electrical Engineer is to provide site evaluation, system engineering design, and sub-consultant management services for SunPower's Off Grid commercial projects as part of the Design & Engineering Department. The Off Grid Design & Engineering Group designs telecommunication, O&G, Rural Electrification and isolated solar arrays, generating full sets of construction documents to support our in-house construction project management team. Electrical Engineers must demonstrate to have strong electro technical understanding of the photovoltaic systems, able to develop his/her engineering capabilities in an international environment -with the applicable codes-, creative problem solving, and excellent electrical software skills. Job Responsibilities: Essential responsibilities include the following -others may be assigned-: •Main duties include: o Electrical design o Preparation of detailed design documentation o Component and system integration analysis o Selection and coordination of engineering consultants and contractors o Communication with internal and external clients • Coordinate and manages the flow of technical information in and out of the Design & Engineering Team • Responsible for the electrical portion of the Design & Engineering Team deliverables, including the drawing set, technical specifications, and calculations. The Electrical Engineer works with the Project Designer, Scada & Security Engineer, and Civil/Structural Engineer, to ensure technical content is complete and to the highest standard • Review and coordinate all required electrical information needed for the Design & Engineering Team to begin the design process for a Proposal or Project • Responsible to provide the required electrical input to the Design Team for a successful Proposal/Project design, by gathering all critical information from the Sales and Project Development teams prior to design commencement • Upon request from the Sales and Project Manager, review contracts and customer specifications to determine critical design related content, and share this information with the Design Team • Manage design consultants and contractors through design phases, ensuring the consultant meets the minimum required quality, project deliverables and stay within budget • Upon request (through the appointed Field Engineer and approved by the Electrical Engineering Team Lead): ? Preparation and processing of RFI's (Request For Information) for Field issues resolution ? Prepares and issues field directives in the form of revised drawings and/or written scope direction ? Communicate, schedule and coordinate the release of construction documents and field bulletins in support of the construction schedule ? Prepare a punch list and Action Item list for turn over to the client and final system commissioning ? Work with O&M team to resolve technical field issues during commissioning •Site visits, including occasional domestic and international travel Minimum Requirements: •Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering •Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in Engineering or Design •Experience in large construction projects and well versed in various codes and standards •Professional Engineer, Licensure or certification •Fluency in English is a must Preferred Requirements: •High level knowledge and experience with electrical software and calculation tools, as Digsilent, ETAP and others •Proven experience in power plants, LV, MV, HV and electrical equipment design •Structured approach to design •Knowledge of national and international electric codes •Communication and creative problem solving skills •Highly organized and capable of working on multiple projects at one time •Knowledge of electrical design, materials and installation methods, especially in power generation •Proficiency with AutoCAD, Ms Office and Ms Project •Comfortable generating detailed construction documentation (reports, drawings, technical specifications, bill of materials, etc.) •Good communication skills *LI-JE |
