Summary of Role:  SunPower is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support estimating and subcontractor buy out negotiation for solar projects, globally.  The Senior Estimator reports to the Senior Manager of Estimating & Cost Reduction and will be responsible providing estimating support, leading subcontractor buyout, improving estimating processes and procedures, and participating as a key member in cost reduction activities.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Provide Estimating Support (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, General Conditions)
- Interactions with Procurement, Supply Chain, Shipping & Logistics, Finance, Sales, R&D, and cost reduction program managers & participants.
Minimum Requirements: - Educational   (Bachelor degree or 4 years of experience).  
- Minimum 10 years of professional work experience in general contracting industry performing in depth subcontractor de-scoping, buyout and selection, and change order evaluations.
- Minimum 10 years of professional work experience providing cost estimating and cost control services for construction projects, having a clear understanding of how field activities are performed, measuring production rates, estimating and project controls processes.
- Must have extensive hands-on knowledge of principles and concepts of cost engineering as they relate to budgeting, monitoring and tracking actual costs, change orders and forecasting.
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written), the ability to interface and influence at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Experience implementing processes, procedures and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with MS Office suite products required
- Experience with projects located outside of the US is preferred.
 
Preferred Requirements: - Job location is Richmond, CA
- 2-5% of travel required
- This is a permanent position
