Summary of Role: The India Off-grid Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing business models, discussions with the customers and recommending business models to the management so as to achieve targets. He/She will coordinate and manage the sales of the off-grid photovoltaic solutions of the Company especially by forging partnership with key accounts. He/She will work in close collaboration with the other services and in team in accordance with the off-grid strategy of the Company, with a special focus on the telecom segment in India. He/She will report directly to the Managing Director, India. Key Responsibilities: a) Lead development of new business opportunities - identification, analysis and execution of opportunities in the Off-grid segments, b) Lead origination, evaluation and follow-up, structuring and execution of strategic partnerships c) Assist in set-up of operations as part of India startup team to develop off-grid business d) Analyze financial and strategic viability/benefits of projects and business ventures. e) Develop and execute off-grid business strategy for new business opportunities, clients and supply chain partnerships f) Communicate and synchronize SunPower India Off-grid Strategy with the global Off-grid group Strategy. g) Develop market intelligence for the Off-grid segments in India, with a strong focus on the telecom segment. h) Develop Customer value proposition and specific regional competitive analysis i) Propose and define a commercial strategy for the distribution of PV components and solutions for telecom and off-grid applications, coordinating with the Off-grid central department in Lyon, leveraging all the (Total and SunPower) Group network, and building a strong distribution network with partners; j) Take the responsibility of the off-grid commercial targets in India and ensure their success. You will commit and be accountable for the targets through the Company tools on reliable forecast; k) Develop and confirm the position of the Company with the targeted territories and market segments, by building a solid and regular base business. You will guarantee that the Company remains the preferred supplier of the partner network in a very competitive environment; l) Build a detailed sales development plan showing a perfect understanding of your perimeter: organization, buying process, buying influences, jobs, strategy, in line with the global corporate strategy; m) Establish relationship with clients and partners, being their daily contact and mastering the competitiveness of the Company offers, negotiations, closing of the orders and implementation of the projects; n) Prepare and manage the building commercial and contractual offers for Off-grid in coordination with other departments such as design &engineering, Project management, procurements and contracts; o) Negotiate all key partnership agreements, contracts and supervise response to qualified tenders p) Participate in the continuous improvement of Sales Process q) Prepare economic models and propose financial solution to compare NPV and IRR analysis; r) Establish and maintain Public/ Government relations - with Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India , IREDA, US department of Energy and other Energy agencies s) Represent SunPower India Leadership team on SunPower Off-grid business, research and technology in tradeshows /conferences t) Position based in India with 50% travel across India. Occasional international travel. Minimum Requirements: a) Required MBA - preferably in Finance or Strategy b) Required Bachelors or Master's Degree in Science/ Engineering/Telecommunications. c) Demonstrated understanding of clean energy business- through published research papers in clean energy/solar/ telecom Preferred Requirements: a. Development and business oriented person, mastering the international business and its financial/ contractual and risk environment, reliable in its forecasts and result oriented - focused b. High management level (team leader, decision maker, market analyst), ability to propose clear solutions, realistic business plans and vision to the Management c. Ability to manage and mobilize multiple teams d. Good financial skills e. Technically oriented, especially in Energy and / or Telecom engineering f. Serious, persevering, hard worker, able to build and define sales process and reliable forecast (SFDC exposure is a plus) g. Very good relationship skills, with experience in high level discussions and very good negotiation skills h. Curious, ability to listen carefully and working in a joint venture mode with your customers i. 5 years+ experience in clean energy industry ( telecom and/or solar PV sector is a plus) and 2 years in Sales Management in Off-grid segment in India j. Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally k. Must be fluent in English and Hindi and good level in written English l.
