SUMMARY: Works directly with the Global office, Regional office, Store and Leadership in the oversight of Workers Compensation Claims and all General Liability, Premises Liability and Product Liability Claims. Responsible for acting as a liaison between the stores, the Regional Office, and our Third Party Administrators / insurance companies to ensure all claims are handled in a complete and thorough manner. Additionally, resposible for establishing excellent working relationships with external law firms, attorneys, claims processors and store/facility Team Leaders, Payroll and Benefits Specialists and Whole Foods Markets legal department. DUTIES: - Responsible for regional assistance in all activities to include safety and workers compensation in a multi-state environment. Consistently implements all Whole Foods Market policies. Assist in the facilitation of programs that allow Team Leaders to operate in a safe environment. - Works directly with store and facility-based Payroll Benefits Specialists to ensure that Workers' Compensation claims are properly managed. Reviews all new claims on a weekly or more frequent basis. Assists in verification, documentation and payment of claims. Audits all claims for follow-up with store/facility regarding claim status and retraining. - Provides advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation with regional leadership. Coordinates the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries. Performs investigations regarding violations of company policy in a consistent and compliant manner. - Works closely with the stores/facilities regarding at-work injury-related Leaves of Absences as possible lost time. - Gathers, copies and forwards files and/or leases for General Liability suits or obtaining information for attorneys as needed. Assists in providing claims information used to correspond with all parties to determine facts around claims. - Assists Regional Safety Specialist (RSS) in analyzing losses, trends and opportunities. Assists the RSS in the oversights and audits the OSHA compliance by each store/facility as needed. - Gathers data for reports on workers comp/safety updates, accident reports and position statements required by regulatory agencies. Assists in the creation and maintenance of the regional WC Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) list. - Acts as trainer and consultant for Payroll and Benefits Specialists regarding claims filing, record keeping, and at-work injury related issues, and claims management. - Other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: - Five to seven years or equivalent experience in administering Workers Compensation claims. - Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation laws in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. - Working knowledge of OSHA regulations as it pertains to the retail food industry. - Calm demeanor in an emotionally-charged environment. - Superior problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently. Strong communication skills. - Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a trustworthy manner. - Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills. - Able to embrace change with enthusiasm and work as part of a collaborative team. - Able to travel nationally and in the entire Northeast region.
