Selected candidates will provide expertise for multiple projects. Role Overview: Provide the electrical systems design for BNI projects. - Carry out the allocated design engineering tasks in a manner which is timely, cost-effective and to a professional standard.
- Contribute directly to the economic design of electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with project design criteria, code requirements addressed or recommended in NEC, NFPA, IEEE and safety requirements by detail design.
- Identify major technical uncertainties and present solution options for management decision.
- Provide technical guideline and direction to the facility design engineers.
- Report to the engineering group supervisors and/or leads, and receive direction from them to assure the adequate electrical design requirements & approach are delivered.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technolgy from an accredited university or college with at least 6 years of progressive electrical power/lighting/grounding system design experience.
Salary and grade commensurate with experience and education. Additional Information Minimum Qualification: - Ability to develop new designs and to derive engineering solutions from a variety of detailed technical options and assess cost implications.
- Working knowledge on developing Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) Single Line Diagrams, Control Schematic and Connection Wiring Diagrams, Indoor and Outdoor Lighting Plan, Power and Grounding System Layout
- Advance knowledge on electrical calculations and specifications.
- Ability to develop and exercise management skills and experience as responsibilities increase.
- Familiar with IEEE, NEC, IESNA, NFPA, other Codes and Standards relating to DOE and NRC regulatory requirements and good engineering practice in electrical design.
- Ability to develop electrical equipment procurement packages and work with vendors to get compliant equipment delivered within cost, schedule, and quality constraints.
- Have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. Professional Engineering license no later than 31 December 2014.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.
Preferred Qualification: - Professional Engineer Registration
- Familiar with electrical equipment, electrical system installations and contractual practices.
- Intermediate level of office automation skills and engineering tasks application with Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Experience working on a nuclear power or Department of Energy nuclear design project.
- Knowledge of Cathodic Protection Systems per NACE Standards
- Knowledge of Communications Systems per TIA/EIA Standards
- Possess the legal right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
