Selected candidates will provide expertise for multiple projects. Role Overview - Provide engineering and design services for HVAC systems in BNI projects.
- Develop and finalize confinement ventilation system designs that result in ductwork layouts, ventilation flow diagrams, and related instrumentation diagrams.
- Develop and finalize HVAC engineering deliverables including, but not limited to, Ventilation & Instrumentation Drawings (V&IDs), Calculations, Data Sheets, System Descriptions, and Test Acceptance Criteria documentation.
- Develop and finalize models of the HVAC systems and perform duct design analyses and HVAC equipment sizing.
- Review general arrangement and equipment layout drawings and provide HVAC input to the Plant Design Discipline.
- Plan, coordinate, and prepare HVAC sequences of operation to support the development of Software Requirements Specifications and other documents created by the Controls & Instrumentation Group.
- Coordinate engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or other disciplines (e.g., Commissioning & Testing; Environmental Safety & Health, Quality Assurance, Procurement, etc.), with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other divisional groups when delegated.
- Write and respond to documents from federal, state, and local regulators, vendors, and client.
- Independently prepare or assist with technical evaluation of bidders and make recommendations.
- Prepare or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals.
- Perform or assist in the performance of problem analysis and original design.
- Review project controls, cost estimates, and quantity evaluations.
- Provide input to the Structural Engineering Discipline for development of seismic analyses for HVAC equipment and ductwork.
- Develop and finalize HVAC equipment and duct layout designs, interference free, using 2D and 3D automation tools.
- Address and resolve HVAC interfaces with other disciplines.
- Carry out the allocated design engineering tasks in a manner that is timely, cost-effective and to a professional standard.
- Ensure compliance with all contract and safety basis regulatory codes.
Basic Qualifications - B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college with at least6 years of progressive related experience
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a U.S. Professional Engineering license not later than 31 December 2014.
Salary and grade commensurate with experience and education. Additional Information Minimum Qualifications - Experience in front end mechanical design and equipment selection for waste processing, nuclear, or chemical facilities.
- Working knowledge of US Nuclear Codes and Standards relating to regulatory requirements and good engineering practice.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, and background check.
Preferred Qualifications - Prefer a minimum of 4 years experience in front end mechanical design and equipment selection for waste processing, nuclear, or chemical facilities.
- Ability to develop and exercise management skills and experience as responsibilities increase.
- Possess the legal right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
