Selected candidates will provide expertise for multiple projects.

Role Overview
As a Principal Procurement Engineer, receives supervision from the Procurement Engineering Manager and other Lead Procurement Engineers Supports materials management, engineering/projects department in the performance of complex and demanding assignments requiring initiative and independent judgment. Directs the work of assigned personnel, meeting safety, quality, cost and schedules. Must have considerable mathematical, computer, and code or design experience. Maintains contact with quality, supplier quality technical staff, engineers, in work performance, training and development, and others in the work group who perform specific support assignments. Participates with supplier organizations in selection and Bechtel review of manufacturing and examination methods.
Job Responsibilities
  • Conducts training for other procurement engineers on the following: commercial grade surveys, NQA-1 audits, and suspect and counterfeit items.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates phases of procurement engineering work on the project or staff group.
  • Performs work that involves conventional engineering, inspection, and manufacturing practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or coordinationof requirements for the development of commercial grade dedications.
  • Plans, coordinates,prepares, and reviews commercial grade dedications packages, commercial material, and/or field requisitions for material and/or off-the-shelf equipment or specifications.
  • When delegated, assumes a lead role over other procurement engineering staff or project subgroups for completing specific tasks. Assists in on-the-job training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations.
  • Performs or assists in the performance of problem analysis of commercial grade dedication issue and/or material equipment non-conformances.
  • Reviews and checks work of subordinate technical staff. Prepares technical documents.
  • Assists the project team in the development and/or interpretation of technical specifications that fulfill the objectives of the project and Customer.
  • Participates with engineering, quality assurance, supplier quality, and construction organizations in development of cross-functional and proactive approach to mitigation of commercial grade dedication performance issues.
  • Provides input for process improvements that minimize risk of manufacturing and testing issues on complex commodities.
  • Performs management assessments on procurement engineering activities.
  • Maintains contact with client representative, suppliers, project, and field personnel as delegated. Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to procurement engineering.
  • Demonstrates considerable creativity, foresight, and mature technical judgment in anticipating and solving problems, determining and organizing program objectives and requirements and developing standards and guides for technical activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to comprehend, analyze and resolve complex problems. Solutions often require consideration on new concepts and techniques and the use of keen powers.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in an Engineering fieldand13 years of progressive experience including but not limited to engineering and/or manufacturing experience. In lieu of a degree, 19 years of progressivenuclear (power and/or waste)experience in areas such as:
  • nuclear quality assurance
  • nuclear auditing-supplier qualification
  • commercial grade dedication process
  • manufacturing experience.
  • Use of NQA-1


Additional Information

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to clear a pre-employment drug screen, background check..
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, commercial grade dedication, and manufacturingtechnology and processes.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in standard office automation software, primarily work processing and spreadsheet tools
  • Practical work experience in engineering, procurement engineering, and/or manufacturing necessary to perform the responsibilities above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, I&C, or Mechanical Engineering or 19 years of nuclear related experience
  • Experience with commodities typically procured for nuclear projects, recognized Codes and Standards, nuclear quality assurance, manufacturing methods, inspection/examination/testing techniques, or technical document review and implementation.
  • Knowledge of quality management programs including ISO9000, ANSI N45.2, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR 830, and NQA-1.
  • Ability to apply nuclear industry standards and regulations on general procurement activities.
