Minimum Requirements: -Must have a high school diploma/GED and vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least seven years of experience.
-Specific training, and licensing and advanced knowledge in Instrumentation and Controls installation, checkout and maintenance; have good communication and analytical skills; and a working knowledge of computer systems and software applications.
-Experience may substitute for vocational/technical training, but a WV Journeymen or Master Electricician's License is required.
-Instrument Society of America certification(s) such as Certified Control Systems Technician would be regarded a plus. Job Description: -The efforts of the I&C Technician are absolutely essential during preliminary design, estimating, procurement and fielding of the installation.
- The tasks of the I&C Technician include troubleshooting instruments, removing, installing and repairing mechanical components, working closely with electrical apparatus and project instrumentation, supporting project engineers and research personnel as needed.
-The I&C Technician must be familiar with control and data instrumentation performance problems that cause uncertainties in measurements and be able to provide recommended adjustments and repairs to improve processes.
-Must have knowledge of electrical theory and circuitry and the nature of how an instrument is used in both indication and control applications including loop, firmware and interface/loop calibration.
-The I&C Technician is responsible for assistiing in developing test plans, doing routine checkout and, once installed, executing detailed test plans, all essential parts of the URS RIS work scope.
-The I&C Technician must be able to identify purchase requirements and generate PRs to order the necessary parts for repair or upgrade.
-Generally the I&C Technician will not travel; but, if needed, may be called upon to assist with projects at other sites, attend training or be asked to travel for the benefit of the company.
Project Description:
The URS Team will provide research and engineering services to the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) Office of Research and Development (ORD). We are responsible for providing skilled personnel, facilities, equipment, materials, supplies and services to support NETL's basic and applied energy research and its implementation of technology developments based on that research, and for providing corresponding infrastructure needs. The URS-led Team includes URS' Energy & Construction Division, Midwest Research Institute, and a consortium of five Tier One regional universities consisting of Carnegie Mellon, West Virginia University, University of Pittsburgh, Penn State University and Virginia Tech.
