CH2M HILL Senior Electrical Engineer Careers - Houston, TX The challenge? Help develop and provide high quality, leading edge sustainable engineering solutions to our clients in the power, oil & gas, chemicals and petrochemical, and petroleum refining industries for water/wastewater treatment. Our Senior Electrical Engineer job will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting Water, Energy and Chemical projects in our Houston market. Each day you will be an important team member as you participate in the design, coordination, procurement support, construction support and execution of Electrical projects for our clients. You should be a self motivated, detail oriented professional with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, 10 to 15 or more years of experience in electrical engineering and design work for water treatment, wastewater treatment, oil and gas and chemical facilities and a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each project. Our Senior Electrical Engineers: - Develop scopes of work.
- Monitor and advise Department Manager and Project Manager of changes.
- Prepare detail design milestones, staffing schedules and man-hour estimates.
- Establish design concepts and design data for work assigned to group and assures technical accuracy and conformance to project requirements.
- Prepare Engineering Change Request as required.
- Research suitable solutions and estimating cost and timescales.
- Train less experienced engineers and designers.
- Generate electrical equipment and construction specifications.
- Prepare technical portions of bid packages for electrical equipment and electrical construction work, evaluates bids and supports contract awards
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs and vendor bid evaluations.
- Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits and design revisions/ change management.
- Develop hazardous area classifications.
- Provide input on employee's performance as appraisal to Department Managers.
- Independently evaluate the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals.
- Apply standard engineering tasks and exhibits a working knowledge of applicable codes.
- Develop plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work
- Review and generate design data from P&ID's.Perform the more sophisticated and complicated designs and calculations in accordance with established company standards.
- Coordinate details and miscellaneous design criteria with other disciplines.
- Supervise, check and assist designers and drafters in their assignments.
- Prepare and /or supervise engineering reports, studies, calculations and checks drawings as required.
Special Note: Preference will be given to candidates residing in the greater Houston area. CH2M HILL will not sponsor a work visa to fill this position (e.g. H1B visa, etc.). Basic Qualifications - Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering for the Water, Wastewater, Energy and Chemical/ Petrochemical industries or other heavy industries
- Proficient with Power Analysis design software (ETAP, SKM Power Tools)
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards (NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API and ASI).
- Excellent understanding and knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems at Low (480V), Medium (5KV), and High (15KV) voltages as they relate to the Oil & Gas, Energy, Chemical or other heavy industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 years of experience in Electrical Engineering for the Water, Wastewater, Energy and Chemical/ Petrochemical industries or other heavy industries.
- Texas P.E. registration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical design for control systems.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Suite including MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety requirements for design and operation of equipment and facilities in oil and gas, energy or petrochemical facilities..
