CH2M HILL Operations Supervisor Careers - Swainsboro, GA
The challenge? We provide a range of custom-tailored operations and maintenance solutions which includes comprehensive water utility and public works operations services at the City of Swainsboro, GA. Swainsboro is nestled between Augusta, Macon and Savannah, and lies in the heart of one of the fastest growing regions in the Southeastern United States. CH2M HILL has provided operation and maintenance (O&M) services to the City of Swainsboro since September 1992 including the entire Public Works Department-including streets, vehicle maintenance, building inspection, and department administration. We have 23 employees serving 7,500 residents.Our Public Works Operations Supervisor will oversee a staff of 7 full time employees.
Our Public Works Operations Supervisor:
- Exercises considerable judgment in determining work assignment priorities in use of equipment and use of manpower; modifies methods, procedures and priorities to meet changing conditions and determines materials equipment needed to complete jobs.
- Schedules, reviews and may participate in the work of mechanics engaged in maintenance and repair of all municipal gasoline and diesel driven vehicles including specialized equipment.
- Maintains records of serviced vehicles and/or equipment as well as the daily implementation of the preventive maintenance program.
- Responsible for the requisition of parts and supplies used in repair of equipment and maintains adequate inventory of necessary parts.
- Experience in operating heavy equipment, grass cutting, ditch and driveway repairs, landfill operations (no trash), concrete work, and carpentry work.
- Must possess a CDL license.
- Ability to assist Project Management in the hiring, disciplinary and budgetary processes.
- Ensures that work is conducted in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Reviews work of subordinates and crews and progress performance with constructions, timeliness and safety.
- Continuously inspects work in progress with performance to plan and instructions.
- Receives and investigates all complaints of residents regarding Street Department Operations including, but not limited to Cemetery Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Sanitation, Street Maintenance, and Storm-water/drainage.
- Communicates with Project Manager of unusual problems or delays.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
- Schedules and approves leave requests.
- Performs survey work with the ability to read and comprehend plans.
- Maintains records and prepares reports on completed work.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications - High school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid CDL driver's license with no major infractions in past 5 years
- 5 years experience in public works environment
- 3+ years supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications - 10 years experience in Public Works (specifically Fleet Maintenance, Sanitation, and Street Operations)
- 5 years experience at a supervisory and/or Manager level
- Live within a 20 mile radius of the project
- Knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, and traffic laws relating to equipment and machinery required to perform Street Maintenance, Cemetery, Sanitation and Fleet Maintenance
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in construction, maintenance, repair of street surfaces, curbs and drainage structures
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and plans
- Able to organize, coordinate and supervise the work of others
- Able to communicate well both verbally and in writing
