CH2M HILL Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor Careers - Fort Irwin, CA

Our Equipment Operator position will provide you with an opportunity to operate a variety of equipment to support the work that is being done at Fort Irwin. You should have a California Commercial Driver's License, be able to operate and conduct the preventative maintenance of vehicles, heavy equipment, farm machinery, pumps and sewer line maintenance equipment and have the desire to grow personally and professionally with each new project.

Our Equipment Operators Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities:

Operates equipment such as: 18-wheel tractor trailer rigs, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, spreaders, soil injectors, farm machinery, pumping equipment, sewer rodders, hydro-jet cleaners, TV monitoring and line grouting equipment
Understands and carries out oral and written directions
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contracted during the course of work
Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures; familiar with confined space entry, traffic safety and control

Specific Responsibilities:

Load, unload, haul, and apply sewage sludge and, if applicable, scum, grit, and screenings according to approved procedures including application to agricultural land, landfills, etc
Inspect, repair, seal and maintain free flowing conditions in sewer lines, drains, ditches and culverts. If appropriate adjust manholes; lay sewer lines to upgrade; patch streets and sidewalks; and erect and repair fences
Inspect, clean and perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance, servicing, and care of equipment, vehicles, tools, pumps and other mobile and stationary equipment
Load, unload, haul and spread sand, gravel and dirt; digs and refills ditches and trenches
Uses materials, supplies, and hand or power tools
Maintains records and logs of work activities
Operates CCTV Equipment and completes various reports
Performs work of Utility Worker classification as required

Physical Responsibilites/Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift 100 pounds from floor level to waist high. Items lifted are often bulky and difficult to handle
Must be able to climb and work off of a ladder or scaffold
Must be able to ascend and descend 1,000 steps per day
Must be able to use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts
Must be able to carry a 50-pound tool box up a flight of stairs
Must be able to work in constricted places
Must have flexibility to reach, stoop, and bend to work on equipment

Basic Qualifications

Operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles, heavy equipment, farm machinery, pumps and sewer line maintenance equipment
Familiarity with equipment, hand and power tools commonly used in the maintenance and servicing of equipment and sewers
Must have current California Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
