CH2M HILL Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer - Spartanburg, South Carolina The challenge? Helping ensure the supply of our world's oil and gas and chemical supplies. Our Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer job will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting, large scale oil, gas and chemical projects. Each day you will be an important team leader for the instrumentation and control engineering group. You should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, 15 years of I&C engineering experience in energy, chemicals and petro-chemical industries, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each new project. Our Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer: - Assists with development of scope of work and man-hour estimate
- Develops plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work
- Prepares and updates project design milestones
- Performs engineering, designs and calculations in accordance with established department and industry standards; Design Procedures, Design Guidelines, and Best Practices
- Acts as the liaison between the I&C design team and the client and anticipates and identifies customers needs and translates them into design specifications
- Prepares and/or supervises engineering reports, studies, and calculations
- Researches suitable solutions
- Executes work within labor-hour budgets and schedule constraints
- Establishes design concepts and design data for work assigned to project teams and assures technical accuracy and conformance to project requirements
- Independently evaluates the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria and systems to efficiently meet project goals
- Is familiar with the PLC, DCS and SIS systems used in the industry
- Has design experience with the bus systems (ASI, Profibus, Fieldbus, etc.) used in the industry
- Prepares all I&C design and engineering deliverables including Instrument Index, Instrument Specifications, and Design Drawings including Control System Architecture, Control Panel Layouts with BOM, Power Junction Box (PJB), Instrument Junction Box (IJB), Instrument Loop Wiring Diagrams, Control Schematics, Cable Schedules, Instrument Installation Details, and Instrument Location Plans
- Provides technical review of process instrumentation submittals
- Coordinates details and miscellaneous design criteria with other engineering disciplines
- Reviews I&C drawings and specifications and other disciplines' deliverables including Piping's 3-D Model and Isometrics for compliance with department and project needs and client standards
- Prepares construction specifications and construction documents
- Provides input on co-workers' performance appraisals
- Trains and mentors less experienced engineers and designers
- Manage large I&C or Systems Integration/Software projects or complex I&C projects from concept to startup
- Oversee electrical design including cable/conduit schedules, control panel layout and wiring on large I&C/SI projects
- Lead efforts for proposals, presentations and new business development

Basic Qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field, or ;
- an additional 5 years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
- 15 years of controls/instrumentation design and/or PLC/HMI programming for heavy industrial projects.
- Experience with: Allen Bradley Control, Logix, RSLinx, RS Networx.
- Must be proficient in PLC and HMI programming, modular code development.
- Functional experience with Intergraph Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI or Intools).
Preferred Qualifications - Preference will be given to candidates with extensive Energy and Chemicals experience and it is also desirable to possess a strong background in industrial work including consumer products.
- Advanced skills in various networks and topologies, including; EtherNet IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, ProfiBus, Foundation Fieldbus etc.
- In depth knowledge of Process Control Instrumentation
- Advanced computer skills are desirable (VB, C++, .NET, SQL)
