Job Description:  CH2M HILL Prime Contracts Administrator, Englewood-Denver, CO

The challenge? Help support a global leader in full-service engineering, consulting, construction and operations using your expertise in contract negotiations and administration as a member of the Commercial Contracts and Procurement Team. The selected candidate will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating contract documents for CH2M HILL's Energy & Chemicals business group, primarily for its operations in Alaska and Canada. As a Prime Contracts Administrator you will be located in our Englewood, CO office and be required to travel to support our operations in Alaska and Canada. Knowledge of the oil & gas and construction industries will support your success as you review and negotiate our engineering, construction, fabrication, and operations & maintenance contracts with CH2M HILL's commercial clients. You should be a self motivated professional with strong interpersonal and written communication skills and have the requisite experience negotiating prime contracts and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each challenge.

Our Prime Contracts Administrators:
  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts in accordance with business group and company policy; identify areas of risk and recommend language/strategy to manage/mitigate risk
  • With the project/program manager and/or business development lead, develop the negotiation strategy and participate in contract negotiations with the client.
  • Coordinate with the legal and insurance department on certain issues and claims
  • Assist, where appropriate, in the contract negotiations with subcontractors.
  • Support contract document management and help maintain current and accurate contract files
  • Develop prime contract summaries and flow downs to be used for procurements under the prime contract
  • Participate in corporate and project audits/reviews as requested
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients
  • Respond in a timely, professional and comprehensive manner to project and client directives and requests involving financial information, contract compliance, subcontracting, procurement, cost proposals, project accounting, finance, tax, insurance, and other administrative issues
  • Have the ability to manage multiple assignments


SPECIAL NOTES:

As a condition of employment with CH2M HILL, any successful job applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment background investigation, including a drug test.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree, or equivalent experience
  • 5 + years experience in contracts, procurement, or legal
  • 2+ years experience with contract drafting, negotiation and administration
  • 1+ years experience in the oil and gas, construction or energy industry
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word
  • Proficiency in MS office (Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including outside the US

Preferred Qualifications

In addition, the following are preferred:
  • 3+ years experience in the oil and gas or construction industry strongly preferred
  • 5+ years in with contract drafting, negotiation and administration
  • Paralegal or legal experience
  • Knowledge of contract law
  • Experience with construction/fabrication and operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts
  • International contracting experience
  • Experience in change order management
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Strong verbal, written communications skills and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management, risk assessment, and risk planning processes.
  • Experience mitigating risk using sound business judgment and appropriate contract/subcontract language.
