Position Overview Under limited supervision, performs Waste Management job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities include assisting and supporting management in ensuring that the site Waste Management function operates in a manner that is safe, cost effective and fully compliant with FBP procedures and all regulatory requirement s . The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigne d : • Recognized on-site as a Subject Matter Expert in the requirements of assigned job duties supporting Waste Management functional areas such as waste characterization, waste stream certification, waste disposition planning, nuclear materials transfer, transportation and/or other related areas • Assignments are usually self-initiated • Makes significant contributions to the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental waste management programs and procedures • Conducts investigations and prepares reports to project management • Ensures environmental waste management activities are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and project policies • Provides technical expertise to other function across the organization • May serve as team lead on medium to large projects • Provides technical and/or functional support to the Waste Management team • Performs duties complex in nature • Other job related duties as assigned Minimum Requirements MS degree in a related field and 10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience 15+ year s . Strong interpersonal and communication skills Knowledge and experience with nuclear facility operations Good working knowledge and experience with , DOE nuclear facility safety including technical safety requirements, processes and reporting requirements, Intermediate C skills including Microsoft software DOE " L " or "Q" clearance or ability to obtain a DOE " L " or " Q" clearance Working Conditions Primary work environment will be office. Limited work may be required in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities). Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed. Ability to wear respirator and other protective equipment to enter various types of potentially hazardous areas (such as but not limited to chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc. Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicl machine operatio n , and/or working around movingequipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck , golf cart , gator, heavy equipment ) . . Ability to work in confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise and areas with radiation and chemical hazard s . Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.) In some cases radiological training may be required . May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work. All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times. Additional duties include: • Support site objectives and activities through detailed knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and standards as well as applicable technical and scientific matters with respect to waste storage, treatment, transportation and disposal. • Completes and maintains advanced certification training in transportation of mixed waste meeting the requirements of 49 CFR 172 Subpart H. • Generates/reviews disposition plans, waste characterization reports, shipping papers and associated documentation. • Reviews waste treatment and disposal profiles.
