Job Description:  AECOM's Boston office is seeking candidates to work with our aviation practice in the Northeast with a focus on Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).   The successful candidate will work on airport terminal and Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS) projects at both a management and technical level.   The candidate must have significant experience in the design, management, construction and commissioning of baggage handling systems, and must have a working knowledge of the TSA's Planning Guidelines and Design Standards for CBIS (PGDS). In addition to project work, the candidate will participate in business development and marketing initiatives and work closely with the Northeast Region and National Aviation Business Line leaders to lead and/or support efforts to grow the BHS business.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate's responsibilities will vary, but will revolve around the following:

 

Technical / Management Responsibilities

• Technically competent to successfully perform on and deliver projects identified for pursuit in the Aviation Market, specifically for planning, design, and construction management phases of service.

• Perform managerial and technical activities on BHS/CBIS projects

• Provide design and technical leadership, advice, insight, and share knowledge to assure successful completion of projects.

• Manage and oversee sub-consultants performing BHS design work on projects

• Review BHS designer's work product and perform QA/QC on their technical submissions

• Prepare scopes for projects, review contract requirements of project, and develop appropriate budget/schedule for projects,

• Developing scope, schedule and fees for projects.

• Must be familiar with Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Checked Baggage Inspections Systems (CBIS), TSA and the Planning Guidelines and Design Standards for CBIS.

 

Business Development

• Working closely with the New England District Aviation Team relative to local, regional and national BHS/CBIS pursuits and projects.

• Collaborates with the District, Regional and National Aviation Leaders on strategic business development as well as specific targeted project proposals and pursuits.

 

Marketing

• Participate in client relationship efforts for the Aviation Business Line with an emphasis on enabling AECOM to become a trusted advisor to the leadership of that market/client.

• Work with the Aviation Northeast Business Line Leaders and the New England District Aviation Team and to identify and capitalize upon opportunities in the Aviation BHS/CBIS Market

• Develop strategic pursuits and capture plans for aviation/BHS/CBIS pursuits.

• Cross-markets other AECOM capabilities.

 

Experience / Education

• The applicant for this position must have a BA or BS degree in architecture, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or other related field.

•   Graduate degree in appropriate discipline is strongly preferred. 

• The applicant will have a minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in BHS Systems Design and Management

• The applicant must have a thorough understanding of the market and business development aspects of aviation sector.

• The applicant for this position must have a BA or BS degree in architecture, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or other related field.

•   Graduate degree in appropriate discipline is strongly preferred. 

• The applicant will have a minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in BHS Systems Design and Management

• The applicant must have a thorough understanding of the market and business development aspects of aviation sector.

• Familiarity with Aviation history and culture and with local political environment, industry and civic organizations, as they relate to aviation would b e beneficial.

• The applicant must have experience in marketing, sales, project management, negotiations, presentations/public speaking, and supervision of technical work performed by others.

• The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of the TSA's Planning Guidelines and Design Standards for CBIS (PGDS)

 

Other Requirements

• The candidate's home office location will be Boston, MA

• Candidate must be willing to travel within the US and potentially abroad
