| Job Description: |
AECOM Environment is seeking a qualified Project Manager II, Air Quality to review regional emissions inventories developed for photochemical grid modeling. The successful candidate will serve as the lead emissions modeler for air quality modeling of ozone, particulate matter, regional haze, and atmospheric deposition using either CAMx or CMAQ. Candidates will have demonstrated experience in the following areas: emissions processing and/or modeling with SMOKE or other emissions models (e.g. MOBILE6, MOVES, NONROAD, BEIS, MEGAN, CONCEPT, etc.); implementation and documentation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures; summarizing input data, processing steps, and resulting emissions in reports; qualifying and assessing the emissions results when implemented in air quality models; and mentoring, training, or managing staff.
Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility is to oversee the development of regional emissions inventories for photochemical grid modeling.
- Participate in the development and communication of study design, which outlines data sources and processing methods to meet the study goals.
- Regularly review the configuration and implementation of the SMOKE modeling performed by junior staff.
- Direct refinements of emissions inventories and linkages to meteorological data to ensure appropriate estimates of these inputs to photochemical models.
- Apply and develop analytical tools (visualization, statistical, and comparative analyses) to aide in the analysis of results. Identify potential air pollution control strategies and review implementation of controls, as required by the individual project goals.
- Principle reviewer of written reports.
- Report information typically includes description of methods, model input and configurations, QA/QC procedures and results, and summary of findings.
- Written and oral communication of results that can be understood by agency, industry, and public stakeholders.
- Manage emissions inventory tasks for internal and external clients, including coordination with the project manager on project budget, scope, and schedule requirements.
- Collaborate with local engineers and other modeling team members.
- Participate in group meetings frequently and travel to client meetings occasionally.
- Support proposal writing and business development activities.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in atmospheric science, chemistry, physics, or a related field.
- Candidates that possess a Masters degree with commensurate experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience with regional emissions inventory development and review for photochemical grid modeling.
- Previous experience preparing emissions inventories or running emissions models, such as SMOKE, MOVES, MEGAN, or similar models.
- Proficiency with the UNIX/Linux and PC operating systems, large dataset manipulation, statistics, and data analysis and presentation software.
