SUMMARY:
Supports the efforts, within a discipline, in information systems including application support, database administration, software quality assurance/quality control or software engineering. Performs assignments that require initiative and limited independent judgment in the selection and use of established principles and procedures. Develops professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard information systems methodology, techniques, procedures and criteria. Exercises limited but increasing judgment in performing assigned tasks.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
A. Supervision Received
- Receives technical and administrative supervision from a designated Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) Team Lead.
B. Supervision Exercised
- None. May provide technical assistance to others in IS&T who perform specific assignments within the discipline as delegated.
C. Contacts
- Provides support to end users and customers in IS&T as required.
- Provides support to end users and customers in other Bechtel functions dependent on information systems activities.
- Maintains contact with other IS&T technical personnel regarding application support, database administration, or software engineering regarding programming requirements and standards, and/or to obtain programming assistance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Performs specific tasks while utilizing prescribed information systems methods.
- Performs a range of tasks in a variety of contexts, without frequent reference to others.
- When performing duties as application support associate:
- Assists with setting up, installing, supporting, configuring, and implementing project/department/business unit automation software tools, project automation plans for the end users and customers.
- Investigates and resolves problems and provides information about the systems to the users and to service delivery.
- Customizes applications, prepares user guides and training and delivers training materials based on customer needs.
- When performing duties as a database administration associate:
- Assists with database software and tools installs, database software upgrades, database migrations and monitoring.
- Assists with application/database refreshes and managing database space management.
- When performing duties as a software quality assurance and quality control associate:
- Assists in the development of test scripts for automated software testing, the configuration of test lab hardware and environment, and the development of project test plans.
- Reviews test plans and test reports.
- Assists in maintaining the work process for bug tracking software, the implementation of the software development methodology and in performing quality assurance audits .
- When performing duties as a software engineering associate:
- Codes and debugs software applications in accordance with the Software Development Methodology Framework, Enterprise and Application Architecture, and the Software Development Standards.
- Analyzes, maintains and implements existing software applications.
- Analyzes user requirements, evaluates work processes and creates programming specifications with end users.
