JOB SUMMARY This job is for a real nuclear industry go-getter, working on Generation mPower opportunities, with a specialty in development of Design Certification Applications (DCA), FSAR/Tech Spec reviews; DCN/EDCR design bases evaluations, NRC inspections support and miscellaneous Licensing interfaces with respect to licensing a new reactor design. It is for a seasoned licensing engineer who loves to work on the cutting edge, , directing, and leading the effort towards new power generation. The Senior Licensing Engineer (Nuclear) will develop and provide guidance and expertise to complete the licensing process, supporting the Bechtel Power Nuclear business line, customers, the NRC and working closely with Babcock and Wilcox partners. This job will require outstanding knowledge of the US regulatory process for nuclear power plants and the documentation process including being able to comfortably work with all the Regulatory Guides, the Standard Review Plans, the General Design Criteria, the Branch Technical Positions, etc. One of the most important parts of the job is to be an expert trouble-shooter of the nuclear regulatory process, resolving technical issues, coordinating resolution strategy and reviewing the work of the other engineers in the process. The position is based in Frederick, MD with travel to domestic and international destinations on business trips as required. CANDIDATE PROFILE The ideal candidate will likely be one of the 300 or so nuclear licensing experts in the industry, have already had a "Senior Licensing Engineer" title, and be able to enjoy navigating through a number of project development activities such as coordinating the Combined Operating License Applications (COLA) and Early Site Permitting (ESP) Applications for potential new nuclear units. He or she must be a great communicator, assisting in developing presentation materials in the process. He or she will be an expert at reviewing power plant designs, technical materials prepared by others and creating new content such as technical papers. A successful candidate will be highly confident in responding to NRC requests for additional information (RAIs) and Atomic Safety & Licensing Board (ASLB) inquiries. SENIOR LICENSING ENGINEER - GENERATION mPower - JOB DETAILS (you won't be bored!) This position entails working with design engineers to help develop designs that meets regulatory requirements, coordinating issue resolution with stakeholders, developing Design Criteria Document (DCD) sections consistent with regulatory guidance, and supporting meetings with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Must have at least 10 years of recent experience as a Licensing engineer, performing the job duties and responsibilities as described above • Must have Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline • Must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and have the ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant. • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS • Professional Engineering (PE) License. • Master of Science (MS) degree in an Engineering discipline.
