Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• EIT required and on path to Professional Engineer registration
• Minimum 4 years of experience working on Michigan Department of Transportation projects, other DOT projects or surface transportation projects
• Proficient with construction tracking software, including experience with Field Manager, Word, Excel, on-line construction management software, project controls software (i.e. ProjectWise)
• Knowledge of surface transportation construction methods, materials, material certifications, payment methods, design-bid-build delivery, design-build delivery, wage rates and payrolls, MDOT/FHWA construction project record keeping methods
• Flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of the URS Corporation is required
• Valid driver's license required
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test


Job Description:

The URS Surface Transportation Department in Michigan is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Engineer for immediate employment in the Grand Rapids, MI office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Surface Transportation, specific to MDOT and local agency construction projects. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent will assist with the overall delivery of construction and design-build project delivery.
This will include construction administration, record keeping and oversight on MDOT and local agency construction projects.

Incumbent responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
• Develop knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and effort in the surface transportation arena and with potential obstacles that may be encountered in delivering surface transportation projects and maintaining records for those projects
• Research construction approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications for projects
• Oversee and coordinate other URS and subcontractor personnel in delivering a high quality construction project record that meets MDOT and FHWA requirements
