Education:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural Engineering with primary structural emphasis, from an ABET certified university, is required.
Experience:
• 3 years of experience in the design of heavy industrial structures for petrochemical, power, or mining industries is required. • Fundamentals of Engineer (FE) certification. • Proficiency in StaadPro V8i, MathCad, and AutoCad is required. • Strong oral and written communications skills.
Preferred Requirements:
• Competency in analysis and design of transmission and distribution (T&D) structures, including towers, line termination structures, substation equipment supports and foundations. • Familiarity with AISC 360-10, ACI-318-08, IBC 2009, ASCE 7-10, PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, NESC and RUS 1724E-200. • Working knowledge of generally accepted engineering principles and standard industry practices for the analysis and design of structural steel and reinforced concrete structures. • Working knowledge and understanding of construction drawings. • Ability to develop material quantities & compile material take-offs.

Project Services - Our Project Services group partners with Energy & Construction operating groups to execute projects by providing top-caliber, professional personnel trained to deliver projects with efficiency and certainty; anticipating and responding to project needs; deploying-with market-driven agility-well-integrated processes, systems and tools designed to enhance project efficiency; maintaining a market-competitive cost structure; and seamlessly integrating functions into cohesive project teams. Level Specific Responsibilities:
• Work on assignments of moderate to advanced complexity under general direction. • Originate calculation sets and perform detailed checking of design drawings and engineering calculations by others. • Review vendor documents to insure proper coordination of design elements. • Travel as necessary to support project requirements including site inspections, structural observations, data acquisition and problem resolution. • Acceptance of short-term and long-term field engineering assignments, when offered is a condition of employment. • Fully understands and assists with the preparation of project scope within a specific discipline. • Fully understands business development concepts and methods and provides support to proposals. • Fully understands codes, permits and company cornerstone applications. • Fully versed with and can check the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within a specific discipline. • Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline. • Has a basic understanding of external factors that impact specific engineering problems. • Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management. • Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts. • Fully understands and reviews interdisciplinary vendor documents. • Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor them to aid in evaluating budget limitations. • Has an advanced level of knowledge of discipline's material costs and of cost and forecasting. • Understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks within a specific discipline. • Understands the project change control process and can identify a potential change. • Has an advanced level of knowledge of discipline's equipment and material lists. • Can integrate all project functional requirements into a complete project plan. • May provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering staff. • Maintains positive working relationship with peer leaders. • Builds productive relationships with organizations in and external to Engineering.
