Minimum Requirements: • Minimum Bachelor's degree in transportation, civil engineering, public policy, or related area of study • Minimum four years of relevant planning experience • Master's degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to two years of work experience • PhD degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to three years of experience • Strong design and computer skills; basic knowledge of surface transportation modeling software including SYNCHRO and CORSIM • Enthusiastic and energetic attitude towards solving engineering problems, and take pride in the role of producing high quality deliverables for clients; enjoy self-directed learning • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports, and the presentation of information to government entities and various committees • Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined practical problems • Group facilitation skills for use with community workshops • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, as needed Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test Job Description: URS is seeking a highly motivated, team orientated, and productive transportation engineer to work with an outstanding group of engineers and technicians.
Responsibilities: • Supports transportation planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations • Collects a variety of statistical data and assists in report preparation • Coordinates community review of transportation projects • Provides information to the public regarding development regulations • Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues • Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments • Interprets and applies applicable state, county and local codes, ordinances and regulations • Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations • Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plan, transportation plan and land development regulations • Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas • Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence • Recommends priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvements plan The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those listed above.
