Summary of Role: SunPower is seeking an experienced Project Finance professional to execute financing strategies for the acquisition of SunPower solar energy systems, or its output, by our customers, and including self-developed projects. This position entails extensive interaction with the SunPower sales team and their clients to develop and explain financing strategies best-suited to the objectives and limitations of the situation. The candidate should have experience with tax-incentivized finance structures, including leases and joint venture arrangements. Strong communication and analytical skills, and experience leading and closing transactions, are requirements for this position. An understanding of relevant tax and GAAP regulations, contractual matters (including Power Purchase Agreements ("PPAs")), analytic models (excel spreadsheets, lease pricing) and familiarity with finance providers in this industry segment is expected. Knowledge of the energy industry is a plus. Experience with residential solar finance programs, including knowledge of the operating requirements of such programs, will be a highly valued. The Director of Project Finance reports to the Senior Director of Project Finance, and closely coordinates efforts with Business Unit Leaders, In-House Counsel, the Treasury Group, and other team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interaction with the SunPower sales team and clients to understand objectives and recognize challenges to be addressed in designing the project financing plan
• Lead the project finance team to develop the appropriate financing strategy for a given situation
• Train, advise and manage the analysis and creation of the financing plan with junior members of the project finance team
• Maintain and develop strategic relationships with finance providers, particularly "tax-equity" investors - understand investor strengths and limitations
• Effectively solicit financing proposals from marketplace - run fair and comprehensive bidding programs
• Facilitate negotiation and successful execution of the financial documentation arrangements, with the support of counsel
• Assist SunPower business units with the development of new channels of business
• Explore, recommend and lead improvements in work processes
• Track renewable energy markets, be aware of potential impacts on SunPower financing strategies
• Develop and implement improved financial structures

Minimum Requirements: Degree in finance, accounting, engineering or other relevant field, with five-years of experience, in project finance, leasing or equipment finance, with an emphasis on tax-subsidized financing is required. A deep understanding of the following is expected:
• "Tax-Equity" investor and investment experience

Preferred Requirements: • Leadership role in equity and debt fund raising
• Understanding and negotiation of PPA's, leases and other project financing legal arrangements
• Familiarity with solar financing structures including partnerships, leases and secured debt structures
• Experience performing financial modeling and the understanding of financial concepts (ROI, IRR, NPV, MISF, WACC, etc...)
• Strong math and computer skills
• Project management experience
• Team management experience, working in a team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Masters degree or 6 years of experience
• Photovoltaic industry and value chain
• Utility regulatory environment

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION
Candidates must demonstrate the skill and experience necessary to creatively structure and execute successful solar energy project financings and to build internal and external partnerships. Excellent oral and written presentation skills, a proven ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders, and a demonstrated ability to build and lead cross-functional teams are required.
Work samples will be required as part of the candidate appraisal and review process.
This position is based in Richmond, CA and requires up to 20% travel.
