Requisition ID: Bechtel is one of the world's premier engineering, construction, and project management companies. The Wheatstone LNG Project is a multi-train Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and domestic gas (DomGas) plant near Onslow on the Pilbara Coast. Bechtel is honored to participate in the engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up of this LNG plant. Bechtel is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join the Wheatstone LNG Project working from Onslow, WA. Role Overview - Assisting project construction and subcontractors in identifying and complying with the project environmental requirements.
- Coordinating with customer and regulatory personnel regarding environmental permitting needs, permit compliance activities, and design and construction changes with the potential for permit/regulatory impacts. Preparing scopes of work and oversight of environmental subcontractors, and compiling environmental baseline information
- Drafting Environmental Compliance Plans, Construction Environmental Control Plans, and other required project- specific environmental plans (e.g., waste management, erosion and sediment control, spill prevention and response), as required
- Developing environmental training programs
- Providing technical support and assistance to Construction on constructability reviews and construction field activities with respect to the project's environmental requirements and implementation of mitigation measures
- Performing management and technical oversight of the onsite environmental officers and General office administration to ensure the efficient day to day functioning of the office
Basic Qualifications - BS (MS preferred) in environmental science or engineering
- Strong broad-based environmental experience across a wide variety of media (e.g., air emission issues and permitting, wastewater discharge criteria and permitting, waste management, spill prevention and response, environmental inspections and compliance auditing) is preferred
- Working knowledge of permitting processes, regulatory requirements and agencies, and environmental compliance. Western Australia or international experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for interfacing with engineering and construction personnel and regulatory agencies.
- General knowledge of construction methods and practical environmental mitigation measures.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with complex environmental issues, regulatory requirements, and various construction activities is desired.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Demonstrated ability for technical problem solving, technical writing, and computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) is required.
- Willingness to travel on short notice and work overtime as required to support project needs.
