Minimum Requirements:
• BS and 7+ years experience or a Master's Degree + 5 years.
• Certification/License(s): VCP5 (VCAP5-DCV and/or VCDX5-DCV is desired)
• Expert level knowledge of VMware vSphere 5, VMWare Operations Manager Suite, Virtual Storage Console and Power CLI.
• 7+ years of administration of VMware.
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5 (VCP5) certification highly desired.
• VMware Certified Design Expect-Data Center Virtualization (VCDX5-DCV) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional-Data Center Design (VCAP5-DCD) is desired
• Experience designing, implementing and supporting large VMware 5.x virtualized environments of at least 250 VMs required.
• Experience converting/migrating existing physical production systems to virtual instances required.
• Expert level knowledge of and experience with Site Recovery Manager (SRM), vSphere, High Availability configurations with vMotion and Storage Motion in a SAN environment and Disaster Recovery required.
• Experience administering Windows 2003/2008 servers required.
• Experience with administering RedHat UNIX servers (highly desired).
• Experience interfacing SAN storage devices to virtualized clients including shared storage for clustering configurations desired.
• Experience with blade systems (highly desired).
• Experience integrating NetApp Snap with VMware desired.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook (required).
• Proficient with Visio (required).
• Must be a self-starter, process oriented, and highly motivated
• ITIL v3 Foundation Certification (desirable).
• Experience with an enterprise-level helpdesk ticketing system preferred.
• Extreme attention to detail required with excellent documentation skills.
• Must be able to think independently.
• Must be available for occasional after hours work.
• High level of initiative and self-confidence along with strong verbal and written communication skills is important.
• Skill in managing one's own time and manage/prioritize multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
• Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Job Description:
URS is looking for a Virtualization Architect / Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, Virginia!
The successful candidate for this position will be working with an engineering team to design, implement, support, tune and trend a large VMware ESXi 5.x infrastructure at the SEC. The existing environment consists of approximately 25 ESX and ESXi hosts and approximately 300 VMs (Windows and UNIX).
The successful candidate must have the skills necessary to evaluate the current VMware infrastructure, develop and implement improvement and upgrade plans, provide expert support and capacity planning, tune and optimize the environment.
Other duties as required.
Work location is based at the SEC Operations Center in Alexandria, VA and other SEC locations as required.
