Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, soil science, agriculture, wetlands management, geology or an earth science related field

• High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision

• Solid report writing and organization skills

• Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point

• Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel

• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Our Gaithersburg office is a center of excellence for a variety of environmental assessment, investigation, and survey services to federal, state, and local government agencies, Fortune 500 corporations, and many manufacturing and commercial clients.

URS is looking to grow our environmental evaluation, compliance and assessment services and we are looking for a creative, motivated self-starter and team player to join the Sustainability and Environmental Management Group. The ideal candidate for this position is a recent graduate scientist or engineer with a willingness to apply knowledge and skills to a variety of environmental assessment and remediation projects.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: analysis of existing information, performing field activities, collecting samples, calculations, interpreting results, and preparing basic date and scientific documents and reports for both public and private sector customers. The work may include environmental site assessments, environmental compliance audits, soil and groundwater sampling, remedial investigations, and HazMat (asbestos, lead paint, PCB) surveys.
