Summary of Role: The Director of Finance, Operations& Strategy will lead strategic, sales management programs, operations and forward business planning for the Residential & Light Commercial business in the Americas. As the key business partner for the General Manager of the Residential & Light Commercial group, you and your team will lead the strategic thinking by driving compelling, metric-based narratives to convey key conclusions and recommendations to grow the RLC business. The role will directly impact the growth trajectory of one of the largest and fast growing business lines at SunPower, with a focus on the transition to an energy services company. By identifying and driving streamlined business processes to guide both long-term strategic planning and shorter-term business and sales operations, you will play a critical role to the growth of the RLC business as the representative in broader corporate strategy planning. You will work on initiatives, projects, presentations and analysis that require broad cross-functional coordination within the company coupled with deep knowledge of the solar energy residential consumer and channel partners, internal sales operations, products and competitors. You and your team will own and manage multiple strategic projects, working collaboratively across the global organization, and lead change by providing insights into the brand, its relationship with its customers and their communities.

  • Act as the key business partner for the RLC Americas Leadership Team to create & implement strategic plans, sales management and financial initiatives aligned with key corporate strategies.
  • Owner of RLC Americas monthly, quarterly and annual planning processes. Includes: revenue planning, demand planning and operating expense budgeting, management and variance analysis. Prepare and present internal financial and sales results for quarterly operations reviews. Provide business decision support by evaluating go-to-market strategies, pricing plans, customer criteria, channel structures, and other critical business decisions.
  • Responsible for RLC Sales Strategy, representing RLC in corporate strategy planning. Includes: strategic development for the RLC business, which informs the growth and market planning essential to the RLC revenue, volumes, and margin goals. Serves as subject matter expert to corporate initiatives. Leads development of strategic recommendations and business development initiatives, including channel and market evolution strategy, implementation roadmap, sales director liaison, customer engagement (both end-user and dealer partner).
  • Interface closely with cross-functional support groups, including Strategy, Marketing, Products, Project Finance, and IT to ensure alignment with sales management and financial initiatives.
  • Identify, highlight and communicate best practices and optimal business processes to build overall sales and channel effectiveness. Includes: establishing performance measures to track progress of specific initiatives, sales cycles, marketing campaigns, and margin performance; designing key internal procedures related to finance and sales activities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, accountability, and profitability; designing sales commission plan & quota assignment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent. An MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years in business finance, strategic development or sales operations role, preferably in solar energy
  • Excellent analytical, modeling and problem solving skills, combined with strong business judgment and demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Superior interpersonal, oral communications, and written communication skills, including the ability to take complex, ambitious topics and create compelling narratives for different audiences
  • Expert with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Relentless positivity and personal initiative; entrepreneurial nature within broad framework of company policies
  • Experience with Hyperion, Salesforce or other CRM continuously improving tools, processes and financial models.
  • Energy and passion, a self-starter who is willing to operate at highly strategic as well as very tactical levels.
  • Experience managing and working with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams; must be a strong leader, possessing project management & planning skills
