SUMMARY: The Career Development Associate Store Team Leader position prepares one to be a part of Store Leadership at Whole Foods Market. Career Development Associate Store Team Leaders go through an intensive, hands-on training program where they learn all aspects of managing store operations and leading and developing Team Members. Assume total responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Team Leader (STL) and Associate Store Team Leader (ASTL). This position requires the ability to train in any metro area store during the 12-16 week training period. This position will be located in one of our stores in the Mid-Atlantic Region (in the specific sub-regional area that you are applying; DC Metro Area, Philadelphia Metro Area, OH area or KY area) DUTIES: • Demonstrate and ensure the highest quality customer care; ensure Team Members are providing exceptional customer service; effectively handle customer complaints when necessary. •Assist with all aspects of store operations and perform all duties and responsibilities of team positions. •Report directly to the Store Team Leader. •Successfully complete the Career Development Training Program • Uphold and communicate merchandising standards and regularly inspect store to assure standards are maintained at all times. • Ensure Team Members are properly trained in safe work practices and procedures. • Ensure standards for product quality and freshness as well as cleanliness and sanitation are upheld. • Know/learn and maintain compliance with relevant regulatory rules, standards, and licenses. • Open and close the store as needed; assure that all security procedures are followed. • Help coordinate and supervise physical inventory process. • Work with STL and Regional Leadership annually and as needed to review and help establish store and department sales, labor, and gross profit goals. •Communicate goals and hold Team Leaders accountable. • Communicate, represent and uphold Whole Foods Market values and business philosophy. • Assist in interviewing, selecting, training, developing and counseling Team Members in a manner which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turnover. • Assist STL in disciplinary action, transfers, promotions, rate increases and job dialogues. • Work with STL to build and sustain a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect and exceptional morale. • Follow and comply with established procedures, and adhere to safe work practices. • This job posting is intended to describe the general requirements for the performance of this job. REQUIREMENTS: • Three or more years of experience in a Leadership role or equivalent. • Demonstrated creativity in promoting sales, merchandising and/or marketing. • Demonstrated strong operational execution skills. • An affinity to our products, core values and company philosophy. • Illustrated Leadership in decision making, critical thinking and analysis. • The desire and demonstrated ability to move in to a Store Leadership position. • The ability and desire to train for multiple weeks during the Career Development Training Program in any Mid-Atlantic store as needed. • Willingness to transfer to stores as needed. •Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills •Excellent customer service skills. • Thorough knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Exceptional organizational skills; able and willing to multi-task. • Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the store including mornings, nights, weekends, holidays and long/unusual hours Essential Job Functions:
