The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects-equivalentto building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres (26 hectares) and includesfacilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory. ROLE OVERVIEW The Engineering Design Analysis Software Quality Lead is a specialist resource for the Engineering software quality program implementation for Design Analysis software. In this role, the lead applies software quality assurance expertise to a broad range of design analysis software. Has technical responsibility for independently interpreting, identifying and defining problems; plans and conducts research aimed at their solution. Uses all available guides and precedents and expands and develops where these contain critical gaps, are only partially related to the problem, or are largely lacking because of the novel character of the project. Serves as consultant to project and specialty engineering/scientific groups, providing advice and counsel on assignments having special and unique features. Supports preparation of and reviews discipline estimates, discipline work plans, budgets and schedules. Provides software quality related guidance guidance to engineers or technicians, as required. Assists in the development and coordination of software quality related educational and training programs for personnel. Maintains contacts with client representatives, suppliers, regulatory authorities, consultants and Bechtel personnel as required to obtain and exchange information pertinent to assignments.
