Role Overview :
Based in Santiago, Chile, and working as part of the BBS finance team and project teams, this position will be responsible for Finance & Accounting activities for the BHPB Santiago Hub Projects. The position will functionally report to the Financial Services Manager of M&M and operationally to the Hub Project Accounting Manager. This position will be responsible for the implementation of systems and processes for the project in order to support project accounting activities, with specific focus on the full implementation of Oracle Billing for all Hub projects. The position will be required to work with the Hub Project Accounting teams to ensure that all billings are issued in a timely manner and are in accordance with prime contract terms. This position will also be responsible for maintaining appropriate process controls and reporting procedures for cash flow forecasting, and accounts receivable, along with general finance & accounting support to the projects with respect to employee accounts, timekeeping & payroll, etc. This position will also coordinate and implement project accounting services and systems. Will oversee the monthly reporting of gross margin, cash forecasting, and hedging program and be required to interact with functional departments to ensure smooth commercial operations of the Bechtel services.
Ensures monthly billings are performed in accordance with contract terms for the BHPB Hub Study Projects. Monitors the accounts receivable and payables to ensure prompt payments are made and received. Monitors status of employee receivables as they pertain to the project and works with project management in ensuring all accounts are current. Prepares the monthly Hub financial metrics and summary reports. Provides analysis of financial information, estimates of costs and preparation of forecasts and ad-hoc management reporting as required by Project and GBU Management. Provides support to Project team with respect to expense report processing, gBETR timesheets and Payroll queries. Responds to client inquiries and audits relative to finance related matters, and works with client representatives to interpret provisions of contracts as it relates to accounting. Establishes financial and administrative controls for the Santiago Hub Study Projects in Chile in accordance with Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements and applicable statutory regulations. Undertakes the responsibility for Project books of accounts, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers, Provides support to the local statutory reporting requirements for the Project books and assists with Chilean statutory and tax reporting requirements as they pertain to any joint venture entities, or the Relincho Project in Chile.
Basic Qualifications :

  • Must have legal right to work in Chile without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and techniques. Understanding of complexities associated with international projects
  • Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high volume activities
  • Able to function effectively within a multi-cultural, team environment
  • Able to effectively interface at all levels of the organization
  • Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions at larger projects
  • Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems
  • Excellent oral and written bi-lingual communication skills (English/Spanish), project financial process controls, MS Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel), accounts payable, general ledger and billing
