General Job Description
- Integrates ESH issues and requirements into proposal, planning documents, government documents, design specification and criteria, logistical plans and schedules, and contract packages for PJET. Has technical responsibility for interpreting complex requirements, evaluating and applying appropriate safety engineering principles, and formulating scopes of work, plans, methodologies, suitable for achieving and maintaining compliance with ESH requirements. Provides technical assistance to other safety professionals assigned to PJET and teamed with Curtis Island based projects.
- Maintains relationships with internal organizations (e.g., engineering, facilities management, Procurement, Traffic and Logistics, Cross Harbor, Workforce Services, Inventory Control, Preservation, Material Management and Contracts), CI Project customers, and contractor/subcontractor representatives to coordinate technical/scientific issues, new technologies, and integration of safety functional responsibilities into PJET proposals, design specifications, work plans and schedules, and subcontractor bid packages.
- Maintains contact, as appropriate, with government regulatory and resource agencies to obtain current information on new regulations, program initiatives, and technical requirements and standards.
- Maintains contact with other safety personnel to keep them informed of changing requirements and to provide technical assistance as needed.
- Coordinates appropriate consideration of ESH requirements with Contracts personnel, logistical operations, engineering, and transportation/cargo personnel as assigned.
- Provides ESH technical support and assistance to PJET field operations and coordinates ESH requirements and formulation of risk reduction measures with other PJET ESH personnel, and related functional departments.
- Participates in meetings with PJET team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of ESH requirements that may affect PJET operations, designs, schedule, or cost.
- Drafts comprehensive ES&H plans, PJET specific risk reduction plans, ESH awareness training programs, and technical reports.
- Provides recommendations and input for revising ESH procedures, work processes, and other quality improvement measures.
- Conducts ESH inspections/assessments of PJET activities to monitor compliance with applicable safety and health requirements including contractual commitments, permits, and PJET's ES&H plan.
- This position is assigned to night coverage with coverage on days and weekends occasionally required.
Position Skills
- Demonstrated experience in supervising and coordinating health and safety activities of the construction or logistics team.
- Ability to coordinate safety, HAZOP reviews during pre-work activities.
- Able to effectively interface with and supervise direct hire unionized employees with respect to health and safety compliance.
- Requires demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to obtain an Australian driver's license or equivalent.
- Well versed in civil construction tasks/projects or logistical operations.
Other Remarks/Qualifications
- B.S or equivalent degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- At least 10 year's relevant experience in major projects or government service in the infrastructure or related industries.
