Minimum Requirements:

Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least 7 years of job-related experience in the operation, repair, trouble shooting, maintenance and assessment of US Naval Gas turbine electrical systems, must have working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.

Must have the following specialized experience:

3 years current experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, assessment and repair of US Naval Marine Gas Turbines electrical systems and associated equipment.
Proficient troubleshooting Gas Turbine Engine control consoles and associated equipment.
Have supported engineering analyses and assisted developing or evaluating improved design changes.

Position may require travel.

Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.


Job Description:

URS is currently seeking a Gas Turbine Electrical Technician to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia!

The Technician will provide technical support in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, construction and operation of Marine Gas Turbines Engines, Electrical Plant Control Consoles, Gas Turbine Generators, Shaft Control Units and Motor Controllers for ventilation systems, Fire Pumps, Lube Oil Purifiers, Main Reduction Gear and Controlled Pitch Propellers and systems in accordance with engineering specifications.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Assess, install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at Company and client sites.
2. Perform or coordinate test and evaluation, checkout, certification tasks. Perform validations/verifications of various electrical systems associated to Gas Turbines.
3. Support test procedures, critique system test procedures.
4. Support implementation of engineering change instructions.
5. Investigate systems problems and provide white papers on the results of the investigation.
6. Train others in the operation and performance of the system(s).
7. Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
8. Support on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, survey, and other engineering tasks as needed.
9. Serve as senior/lead technician and assist in the training of other technicians.
10. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
