Minimum Requirements: Associate's degree or completion of technical trade school courses, or equivalent experience. • Minimum ten years of design experience with AutoCAD experience developing energy, oil, gas or petrochemical industry drawings. • Five of the ten years of experience must have been spent using AutoCAD 3D and CADWORX plant software to develop 3D structural models. • Must have working knowledge of refining, gas processing, and/or petrochemical process plant operations. • Must be able to travel to field project locations with lead designers or engineers to make field sketches, take dimensions, and create as built drawings. It may be required to climb ladders, stairs and pipe racks at these locations. • Able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. The Process Engineering Group of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Structural Designer for immediate employment in Bellingham, Washington. Incumbent Responsibilities: • Proficiency in structural 3D drafting and design of mid-level to complex plant designs/layouts. • Have a full understanding of the design and drawing preparation process using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures. • Provide advanced plant drafting and design services by preparing and maintaining civil/structural drawings including plans, sections, and details. • Prepare plant designs from general instruction and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams, or schematics. • May recommend modifications and changes for design improvement and simplification. • Produce complex technical drawings. • Prepare working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed finished product. • Coordinate CAD projects with other discipline personnel. • Prepare and assemble civil/structural design project deliverables. • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed above.
