***This position is CONTINGENT based upon award of contract and will be located on Fort Rucker.***

U.S. Army qualified IP in the OH-58D(R), UH-60A/L/M, or AH-64D. IPs must have aircraft experience (as applicable for the position being filled) at company level or higher as an IP and must be capable of meeting Class 2 medical standards identified in AR 40-501 - Standards of Medical Fitness, paragraph 4-2.b.(4). Additional requirements include 5+ years of experience as an aviator with the last flight in the aircraft within the previous 24 months.

A current Secret Security Clearance is required for this position.


Job Description:

Purpose and Scope:

Instructor Pilot duties include the training and evaluation of U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence flight students in various Programs of Instruction. IP's will prepare daily briefings, instruct flight students in academic topics required for end of course flight evaluations, conduct safe pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight instruction, which also includes documenting student progress in flight training records. Perform flight instruction in day, night, and night vision goggle modes of flight including use of heads up displays. Provide instruction on instrument flight, formation flight, navigation, combat skills, and emergency procedure training in the aircraft and simulators. Prepare students to perform end of phase flight evaluations on aircraft systems, routine operations, emergency procedures, terrain flight techniques, tactical employment methods, airspace, navigation, and applicable regulatory guidance. Provide instruction in pre-mission planning, mission briefings, rehearsals, and after action reviews.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Successfully complete all flight training requirements in the time period allowed.
2. Assemble and maintain a complete grade folder in accordance with appropriate regulations.
3. Complete initial employee on-boarding and flight refresher training.
4. Successfully complete a Government initial acceptance evaluation.


Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested; must maintain flexibility to work overtime, different shifts and/or weekends as deemed necessary by supervisor in order to meet mission requirements.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is performed in an Aircraft, classroom, and in an office environment. Moderate physical demands involve climbing for aircraft preflight, lifting of weights up to 20 pounds, and limited work outside in a hot summer climate. Must maintain contract flight status and perform flight/simulator training. Must have computer skills and be able to process daily reports or records into a computerized format. Constant use of sight ability while flying, using instruments, reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness and must possess planning/organization skills.
