Job Summary

Provide support and strategic guidance for the client (located in Cincinnati, OH) in their goal to maximize recycling/landfill diversion and reduce cost. Working on site at the client corporate office, provide analysis, expert advise, training, customer service, trouble shooting, project management and sales support in order to maintain a positive and productive relationship between WM and the client.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • As needed, support WM customer service and escalate service issues when appropriate in order to ensure timely and professional service for customer


  • Prepare and conduct quarterly business reviews for the client's and Waste Management, and prepare other presentations as necessary


  • Support the client's Sustainability and LEED project needs by coordinating waste audits, submitting reports and other information as requested


  • Provide ongoing financial and diversion analysis of the client's waste and recycling program to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiencies, and landfill diversion to equip the client's regional Environmental Sustainability (ESS) managers with tools to encourage stores to improve


  • Participate in routine meetings between the client's ESS Managers and WM specialists, program managers and others to provide project updates and drive continuous improvement


  • Edit, revise, research and analyze monthly diversion reports supplied to the client by WM, to include but not limited to store diversion tracking, compactor efficiency, contamination, cost, trends and accuracy


  • Accompany the client ESS Managers on store visits, up to 1 per month (domestic travel) to devise/assist in store education and training activities, information distribution and overall store assessment


  • Develop and prepare education, training and analysis tools designed to improve store performance and diversion


  • Act as the "go to" person for all of the client's waste and recycling needs and queries, whether corporate or store level


  • Generate routine activity reports to Waste Management supervisors and participate in bi-weekly meetings with WM counterparts working for other grocery clients.


  • Research local, county and state regulations as they pertain to new waste programs and advise the client's design and construction teams on store compliance


  • Assist with special projects as assigned by WM or as requested by the client.


  • Identify areas for additional service and lead proposal development for the client through either a formal Request For Proposal process or through noncompetitive bids


    Qualifications

    A. Education and Experience

    Required: Bachelors Degree] preferably in Environmental Sciences or Business and two or more years experience with responsibility in project/business management. Additional five years work and/or experience may substitute for Bachelors Degree at the discretion of the hiring manager. Three or more years environmental industry experience.


    Preferred: Masters Degree in industry related field, Environmental Sciences# or Business Administration. Environmental or related industry experience. One or more years of experience in a supervisory level position. One or more years experience in grocery or retail operations.


    B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements


    Certified Hazardous Materials Manager CHMM or other professional environmental certification is preferred.
