Unit 2 at Watts Bar in Spring City, Tennessee, was about two-thirds complete in 1988 when construction was halted due to a projected decrease in demand for electricity. In 2007, with demand again increasing, TVA decided to complete construction and awarded the project to Bechtel. The Role: Lead Instrumentation Superintendent - Construction In this exciting, fast paced Superintendent role, the qualified candidate will oversee the installation of thousands of feet of 3/8" - 1" stainless steel piping compression and welded joints. The Lead Instrumentation Piping Superintendent may have 8 - 10 or more direct reports managing up to several hundred skilled tradesmen inclusive of pipe fitters and welders with overall responsibility for safety, quality and scheduling. He/She will work closely with field engineering and project controls teams ensuring design installation packages are complete, in advance of actual installation. The qualified candidate will have 15 or more year's construction / superintendent experience in nuclear, oil, gas & chemicals or other heavy industrial projects. The acceptable candidate MUST have nuclear construction project experience on their resume with hands on construction experience in that environment. The Lead Instrument Superintendent must have at least 8 years' experience as a Superintendent with 3 - 5 of those years of experience as a LEAD Superintendent. The position reports directly to the Project Field Superintendent (Site Manager / Construction Manager) participating in client and Bechtel daily, weekly and monthly meetings ensuring work is being completed to schedule. It is clear that in addition to being a good superintendent / construction manager, the ideal candidate will be flexible AND possess excellent communication and planning skills using the MS Office Suite especially Excel and Word. He/She will have a keen ability to monitor & track work output on a daily basis through direct reports and by walking the site. He/She will be responsible for "right sizing" the trade work teams and making sure there is a balance between personality, work ethic and esprit de corps in the backdrop of a safety and quality framework. Basic Qualifications • The qualified candidate will have 15 or more year's construction / superintendent experience in nuclear, oil, gas & chemicals or other heavy industrial projects • Must have at least 8 years' experience as a Superintendent • Must have 3 - 5 of those years of experience as a LEAD Superintendent. • Must have the right to work and remain in the United States • Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted site access • Must have a valid U. S. Driver's License • Must be able to climb ladders and able to handle the wearing of protective clothing to prevent contamination • Must be willing to work nightshift and extended hours as required • Physically able to work in a containment/reactor building environment.
