The Infrastructure and Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented entry level environmental engineer for immediate employment in the Bakersfield office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong educational background in environmental engineering, specific to site remediation (groundwater, soil, etc.) and related environmental tasks at our Bakersfield site. As a graduate engineer you will be allocated project tasks ranging from field work to office based data management, data input, analysis, and preparation of reports as directed by Project Managers. Field work will include but may not be limited to data acquisition, operation and maintenance of remediation systems and the sampling of soil and groundwater, and the supervision of subcontractors. The field work can be a physically demanding activity that will require some basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment. The position will allow the candidate to learn from the ground up how remediation systems function and the real world needs of system design and operation.
Typical responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following responsibilities under the direction of a professional or experienced professional: •Assist multi-disciplined environmental, geological, and technical personnel •Assist with field investigation programs and being part of a field team to gather data being used in large scale remediation system design and optimization. •Collect, Input, and manage field data utilizing computer software •Work with a team of technicians in the routine collection of data, measurements and maintenance activities. •Assist with soil and groundwater sampling. •Liaison with analytical laboratories •Preparation and implementation of Occupational Health and Safety Plans •Budget and time management •Writing technical reports for review by senior technical staff •Deliver project services in accordance with Health & Safety systems, including audit programs •Being trained and mentored by more experienced staff •Assist with tenders and proposals •Participate in workgroup initiatives including technical activities •Perform other related duties from time to time, provided that they are consistent with your skills, competencies and expertise The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those stated above.
