Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum B.S. in Civil Engineering, Hydrology or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in water resources engineering
• M.S. may be substituted for one year of experience
• Must have passed the FE exam
• Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for floodplain management studies, including experience in preparation of H&H analysis for use in FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis associated with Dam Failure conditions, flood hazard analysis relative to nuclear power plants and two-dimensional hydraulic modeling
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
• US Citizenship requirement because of work on federal contracts


Job Description:

The Infrastructure and Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented (position title) for immediate employment in the Germantown Maryland office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Water Resources Engineering specific to flood hazard identification and analysis. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including flood hazard analysis relative to Flood Insurance Studies, Stormwater management analysis and planning, flood hazard analysis of Nuclear Power Plants, and other types of water resources engineering analyses.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Performs hydrologic and hydraulic analyses related to flood plain management studies and Flood Insurance Studies
• Performs Dam Failure Analysis
• Performs two-dimensional modeling of complex floodplain situations
• Trains and mentors junior engineers
• Conducts independent technical reviews of work performed by other engineers
