Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering or in a related rail engineering work experience
• Minimum two years of relevant experience.
• Experience utilizing Micro-station and Geo-pak, and/or AutoCAD
• Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills
• Strong organization skills and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment
• Must possess good organizational and verbal communication skills
• Must possess a valid US driver's license
• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

The Infrastructure & Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Rail Construction Engineer for immediate employment in the Chicago office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established background/education in civil engineering, specific to railway engineering. URS is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to working with Class I, short-line and passenger rail lines.

Incumbent Responsibilities:
• Perform observations of construction activities.
• Maintain a field book in accordance with project procedures.
• Perform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items.
• Prepare Inspector's Daily Reports and other project documentation as required by the project procedures and as directed by the project supervisor.
• Report to the project supervisor on progress of work, including technical issues, status of work remaining to be done, and any noted deficiencies.
• Comply with all project and company safety guidelines.
• Review plans, specifications and submittals relating to assigned work.
• Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers as assigned.
• Maintain company owned vehicle or other equipment assigned for use on the project.
• The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those stated above.
