The Role

Paint Mix Room Technician

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience maintaining paint circulation and pumping systems. The candidate will monitor all paint systems and keep parameters within standard. This person must be capable of working under pressure with other team members. The successful candidate will have knowledge in Automotive manufacturing systems, as well as exceptional paint mix system knowledge.
Responsibility
  • Participate in the addition of paint and solvents to paint mix systems
  • Checking paint viscosities and low shear using viscometer and rheometer
  • Perform hazardous waste removal
  • Operate forklift and portable pumps
  • Maintain proper workplace safety and 5-S standards of work area
  • Apply current experience and available methods to troubleshoot any issues related to paint systems.
  • Verify implementation and effectiveness of recommended solutions.
  • Support process and maintenance activities consistent with departmental expectations and goals
  • Works with maintenance to schedule equipment PM's
  • Ensures people are properly trained to complete the PM's
  • Verify and calibrate paint process and application equipment as directed in the total preventive maintenance plan to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of the painting process
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of PFMEA's, control plans and documentation
  • Assist in developing strategy and PM procedures for maintaining paint mix systems
  • Develop procedures to ensure smooth system start-up and shut down of process equipment to ensure quality for daily operations.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience working with paint systems, chemicals and hazardous waste
  • Experienced using viscometer and rheometer.
  • Maintenance oriented with knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of paint related equipment and peripherals.
  • Hands on experience with paint mix systems and application equipment
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds
  • Good overall computer skills, including Microsoft Office and e-mail programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work within a schedule and adapt to sudden changes
  • Self-starter with the ability to properly manage time
  • Required to work flexible hours
