SUMMARY: The Assistant Baker helps with all duties related to preparing and baking products that are consistent with Whole Foods Market (WFM) quality standards. Maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. DUTIES: - Provide excellent customer service and address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner. Follow all Whole Foods Market (WFM) guidelines for meeting customer needs. - Measure, mix and prepare raw materials according to company specifications and recipes. - Assist Baker/Lead Bakery with forming, cutting, molding, shaping and baking dough. - Monitor cooking completion times and set heat and humidity temperatures for proof box. - Responsible for proper sign placement and correct information- will assist in all aspects of weights and measures, proper labeling and signs. - Help maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating and stocking product, merchandising and end caps. - Check product to ensure it meets WFM quality standards. - Understand and perform as directed all opening, mid, and closing duties. - Read and stay informed daily on communication from regional or store leadership. - Understand spoilage and supply waste and how it affects department expenses. - Make sure temp logs, sweep logs and sanitation logs are completed. - Comply with all Health and Safety Codes. - Ability to perform all the duties and responsibilities of a Bakery Team Member. - Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices. - Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner. - This job posting is intended to describe the general requirements for the performance of this job. REQUIREMENTS: - Working understanding of Bakery department and team. - Ability to read and comprehend recipes, with an understanding of how to follow recipes. - Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow team members and customers. - Meets all customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors and fellow team members. - Ability to complete all tasks in a thorough and timely manner. - Working understanding of and compliance with all WFM quality goals, and thorough product knowledge. - Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in recognizing and accomplishing all tasks where there is a direct job responsibility. - Working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department with a specific focus on attention to detail. - Proper use of which may include but not limited to, knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six wheel carts, baler (must be 18 years of age or older) and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store. - Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
