Water Resources Engineer – Extension Associate
Clemson University Restoration Institute – Charleston, SC
The Water Resources Engineer (WRE) will work with Extension agents, specialists and students to develop and implement demonstration, education and research projects addressing water resource protection and applied stormwater issues. The WRE will be an active member of the Water Resources Program Team, designing and delivering in-service training on a variety of identified topics. The position will also support existing and planned environmental certification programs related to water resources. While the WRE will work with undergraduate and graduate students, this position is non tenure-track.
The position requires substantial travel and fieldwork throughout South Carolina.
The WRE Extension Associate position requires a Masters degree in an engineering discipline plus a minimum of 2 years of environmental or stormwater engineering experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Demonstrated skills with teaching, surveying, CAD, construction supervision, and field monitoring are required. The Extension Associate must be able to work effectively with engineers, scientists, public officials, regulatory authorities, citizen groups, and construction contractors. Experience in extension programming, training, or related area is also preferred. Ability to work and make decisions independently is critical.
