General Summary |
Will support store and regional leadership in the creation and execution of marketing strategies designed to meet or exceed the goals of store leadership and individual departments for sales, customer count and basket size. Assume responsibility for stores execution of all national and regional marketing programs. This is a dual-report position to both Store Team Leader and Associate Store Team Leaders with a dotted-line report to the Associate Marketing Coordinator. Marketing TL will supervise store artist(s), demo team and healthy eating specialist.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Store Level Marketing
,• Develop and execute in-store events to increase sales, inspire customer loyalty, and enhance store theater and customer experience.
,• Serve as liaison to community by promoting and executing community 5% days, developing community service projects for TM base, and communicating store community involvement to the customers
,• Manage stores donation program by ensuring that receiving organizations fit closely with WFM core values.
,• Organize and conduct store tours as necessary.
,• Drive customer count through marketing activity in the store and targeted and strategic community outreach
,• Educate customers and team members on WFM core values and quality standards through TM Education, effective signage, store tours, and offsite events.
,• Educate Store Leadership and TM base on store level marketing programs.
,• Write and distribute press releases to promote awareness of store events, strategic partnerships and external event sponsorships.
,• Manage store marketing and donations budgets.
,• Assume responsibility for stores demo program, working with Regional Demo Coordinator and the stores Demo Specialist.
,• Assume responsibility for stores graphics execution, working with store artists & Regional Design Center
,• Complete weekly store walks to assess store signage and in-store marketing programs
,• Manage stores active social media accounts, engage with audience in a creative way that builds brand loyalty and fosters a virtual community for the store.
,• Leverage social media audience in an ongoing and strategic way for the purpose of driving sales and customer counts
,• Assume responsibility for storewide execution of the Health Starts Here program and customer and team member education through the stores Healthy Eating Specialist
,• Support Regional Cooking program as it relates to your store
,• Develop and implement external marketing and advertising programs based on the business objectives of your store as defined by store and regional leadership
,• Maintain exceptional level of customer service relations with all team members and customers! Set the example!
,• Act as stores liaison to all neighborhood associations, civic associations, like-minded activist organizations and charities.
,• Develop mutually beneficial relationships with local schools, businesses and community organizations.
,• Research competition and local community, summarizing findings for store and regional leadership as necessary.
,• Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership.
,• Fully implement, support, communicate and spin-up all national marketing programs and initiatives.
,• Give actionable feedback on national programs, share best practices and suggest solutions to any problems that arise.
,• Serve as advocate and information source for store regarding national marketing programs.
,• Fully implement, support and serve as stores point person for all regional and metro marketing initiatives.

,• Serve as advocate in the store for regional marketing programs and graphics standards.
,• Order, distribute and maintain any collateral provided by regional marketing including but not limited to brochures, recipe cards, menus, signs, signholders and banners.
,• Assist in planning and execution of regional and metro marketing events.
,• Promote WFM core values and quality standards in the community by collaborating with regional PR specialist by actively pursuing media opportunities.
,• Educate Store Leadership and TM base on national/regional marketing initiatives.
,• Assist TL group in implementing and maintaining regional cross merchandising, basket-building, and margin driving plans
,• Actively participate in all regional marketing meetings/conference calls as scheduled.
,• Work collaboratively with other store marketers and the Regional Marketing team on special projects and programs.
,• Assume responsibility for managing metro, regional or national marketing programs as requested.
Team Member Development
,• Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Markets core values, vision and goals.
,• Interview, select, train, develop, and mentor Team Members in a manner, which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turn over.

Management & Reporting
,• Schedule and complete timely job dialogues with direct reports
,• Provide timely, thorough and thoughtful Quarterly Marketing Plans
,• Proactively schedule & complete Bi-Annual Marketing Reviews with Store & Regional Leadership
,• Provide accurate, complete information in daily, weekly, monthly, annual and ad hoc management reports.
,• Thorough and complete documentation in support of Team Member discipline and counseling activities for all marketing team members
,• Achieve budgeted expense levels.
,• Maintain awareness of new products, and regularly incorporate new products into marketing efforts.
,• Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
,• Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationship with Store Team Leader, Team Leaders, and all Team Members.
,• Model and cultivate effective inter-department and inter-store communication.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
,• Basic knowledge of marketing principles; 2 to 3 years prior marketing experience necessary.
,• Four (4) year degree preferred
,• Two (2) years of leadership / supervisory experience or equivalent.
,• Love and knowledge of natural foods.
,• Some public relations and event planning experience required.
,• Must have excellent organizational skills and demonstrate a high level of detail orientation
,• Ability to prioritize and multi task in a fast-paced environment.
,• Excellent communication skills, positive attitude and the ability to inspire that in others
,• Must be comfortable with speaking in front of large groups.
,• Must be familiar with natural foods industry and Whole Foods Market culture and core values.
,• Ability to work both independently and in a group or team environment.
,• Computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office products & all social media channels a must
,• Experience with Drupal and intranet systems a plus
,• Management experience highly desirable.
,• Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the store, including nights and weekends as required.
