| Job Description: |
The NorthBay education program is a week long residential environmental education and character development curriculum approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. We use environmental issue investigation as a framework for teaching sixth graders from throughout the state with a focus on underserved communities. The work day runs from 8:30 to 5:00 with one 2 1/2 hour teaching block in the morning and one in the afternoon. We teach outdoors utilizing fields, woods and our location on the banks of the upper Chesapeake as a living classroom. Our teaching year mirrors the school year with a two month break in summer. |
| Job Duties: |
Effectively implement a proven environmental and character education curriculum with a diverse student population. Responsible for the safety of students in an outdoor, somewhat remote location. Develop and refine new and existing lessons. Mentor and coach junior staff. Develop and grow on and off site projects such as green schools, aquaculture, school yard habitats and others. Animal care. Other duties as assigned.

It is critical that educators remain open to new teaching methods, ideas and be teachable. Educators must be comfortable in the outdoors, be passionate about serving kids and the environment. |
