Sr. Automotive Electrical Engineer


Tesla Motors is leading the world in the production of highway-capable battery-powered electrical vehicles. The company makes thrilling products, provides an exciting work environment, and is leading the transportation industries toward significant improvements in energy efficiency in vehicles.


Tesla Motors is seeking a Sr. Automotive Electrical Engineer who has had 5-10 years of design and release responsibility for automotive Vehicle Electrical/Electronic systems and components. This engineer will have design and release responsibility for the electrical network architecture including ECUs and the interfaces from the 12V vehicle electrical system to the actuators, sensors, and components which are customers of the E/E system. This engineer should be very strong in: the definition and specification of requirements, in the development of automobile 12V network architectures and systems, and managing internal and external projects to successful delivery on-time and within budget.


This engineer must be capable of:

-designing the vehicle network strategy and architecture to meet the vehicle program requirements

-carrying responsibility for the release of the vehicle network architecture including CAN, LIN, and other data busses.

-carrying responsibility for the release of the ECUs within the network.

-working with suppliers to negotiate program and part costs, supplier agreements, supplier program timing (in conjunction with Tesla Supply Chain Mgmt.).

-specifying requirements for the modules in the E/E network and selecting components and suppliers to achieve excellent production solutions

-primary technical responsibility for all digital and analog signals required in the network and harness to achieve full vehicle functionality.

-engineering analysis and design of electrical and electronic circuits, system timing and bus loading,

 

This engineer should:

-have solid technical depth and breadth in analog and digital circuit analysis and design.

-have broad expertise with Automotive communication networks and modules

-have successfully managed suppliers through the specification of requirements, development of DFMEA, planning and execution of full validation, and to stability in vehicle production.

-be skilled driving team-members from multiple disciplines to reach fact-based decisions

-be able to manage project schedules and budgets
