Job Description:

Land Preservation Coordinator, Westchester Land Trust
Deadline: April 15, 2010

The Westchester Land Trust (WLT) Westchester’s only county-wide land trust, seeks a Land Steward to develop recreational and interpretive resource plans, evaluate conservation values of potential easements, land acquisitions or land donations and conduct educational and stewardship activities at WLT preserves. Responsibilities include creating baseline evaluations of land parcels, supervising GIS professionals, planning and creating trail systems, managing volunteers, leading hikes and educational events, and other land management activities. Occasional travel within Westchester and Putnam counties and limited weekend hours are required. Candidate must possess passion for conservation and commitment to WLT’s mission. Qualifications to be considered include:

- Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science or related field

- 2 years work experience or Master’s degree in related field

- Excellent writing and communication skills

- Knowledge of native ecology

- Teaching experience

- Excellent interpersonal skills
