Minimum Requirements: BSCE - Structural Engineering and a minimum of 15 years experience performing bridge design for basic, intermediate and complex structures, including new design, rehabilitation, and replacement of steel and concrete structures for highway and railroad infrastructure. Candidate must demonstrate experience in managing technical staff. Massachusetts PE required or ability to be obtained within 2 months of hire. Requires the ability to perform/review structural calculations under AASHTO, AREMA, MassDOT and MBTA criteria. Must demonstrate understanding and proficient use of the MassDOT bridge manual, the AASHTO Design specification and the AREMA manual. Must be able to perform structural design computations using STAAD, MATHCAD, VIRTIS, and RC Pier. The successful candidate will also be proficient using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word programs for business applications. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience managing a bridge/structures design group, with a strong record of managing staff in the pursuit and execution of infrastructure projects. Requires leadership skills in the areas of development of and mentoring staff, effective communication, and staff retention. Position requires effective time management, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Successful candidate will be articulate with a professional presence and solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills. Responsibility for managing/overseeing budgets for projects performed with the bridge group, including current billing and accounts receivable; and daily successful operation of all aspects of the group, such as customer interface, development of operating and growth plans, and necessary staffing. Job Description: This position will be part of the Transportation and Infrastructure Group for URS' Northern New England operations. The structural team, which is responsible for a wide range of technical work, consists of approximately 6 staff members ranging in experience from two to 30 years. This position will report to the Transportation and Infrastructure Business Line Manager. This position will provide leadership for structural aspects of the Group's project activities for multiple projects by defining the problem, completing the design calculations and analyses, preparing the contract documents, issuing construction advice to the client and closing out the project. Structural/Bridge Group Management Tasks will include activities focused on business development, project execution and group management. Business development will consist of identifying project opportunities, meeting with clients, making presentations and preparing proposals. Project execution will consist of preparing project execution plans, and for performing project related tasks that satisfy the scope, schedule, budget and quality expectations of the project. Group management will consist of monitoring the daily activities of staff to assure that projects are properly staffed and executed, identifying needs for increases/decreases in staff levels commensurate with the work load, and conducting staff performance reviews. Position will interact with staff in the civil, environmental and other departments within the Boston operation, contractors, other consultants and clients on a regular basis. Will also interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within URS. Must be able to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with other staff and sister offices.
