CH2M HILL Maintenance Superintendent (Deadhorse) – Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

The challenge? Helping ensure the supply of our world's oil and gas. At CH2M HILL, we deliver solutions that span the entire breadth of the oil industry. Our Maintenance Superintendent job will provide you with the opportunity to work on large scale oil and gas projects on the Alaskan North Slope on a rotational basis. Each day you will be an important team leader responsible for the safety, scheduling, direction, coordination and supervision of supervisors and foreman for equipment maintenance both On- and Off-Lease. You should be a self-motivated, detailed-oriented professional with a BS degree in a related field, 5 years work experience in a petrochemical Operations and Maintenance environment, and 8 years leadership or supervisory experience.

Our Maintenance Superintendents:


  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all equipment maintenance, including heavy and light duty oilfield service vehicles and non-mobile equipment (heaters, light plants, generators, etc.), and minor modification work within a multi-craft workforce.

  • Lead in establishing and sustaining a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

  • Support Director in decision making, development and implementation of specific guidelines, procedures, policy's and measurable goals to help achieve company HSE, business and continuous improvement objectives.

  • Provide HSE guidance and leadership, including leading by example.

  • Routinely perform safety and productivity observations; shop, field, and vehicle inspections; and attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.

  • Demonstrate support for the company's environmental management system objectives and the ability to maintain positive support with our contract objectives and goals.

  • Establish equipment maintenance objectives, plans, and budgets to accomplish work for clients.

  • Initiate and maintain liaison with client representatives and other contacts in the field to facilitate project activities.

  • Represent company in project meetings, attend strategy meetings and use technical data to update reports for various clients and company departments.

  • Demonstrate support for the company's Safety & Environmental Management System and investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.

  • Work with O&MS Director to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company's interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with clients.

  • Schedule jobs, procure procedure data, equipment requirements, personnel requirements and coordinate personnel; complete paperwork and maintain records; and prepare and record data necessary to maintain logbooks and complete reports.

  • Prepare prospective project bids and proposals for all assigned operations.

  • Possess certification by a recognized professional organization or company with a certification program recognizing professional accomplishment (e.g. ASQ's certification program for Six Sigma black belt [CSSBB])

Additional Information: The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule (2 weeks on and 2 weeks off). Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided, however transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 years work experience in a petrochemical Operations and Maintenance environment

  • 8 years leadership or supervisory experience

  • Five (5) year experience working Office Suite programs (i.e. word, excel, & outlook)

  • Valid driver's license including ability to be insured by CH2M Hill's auto insurer required. (*All applicants must provide an acceptable five year DMV record at the time of application)

  • Must have Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification or obtain a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification within 6 months of hire.
